Orthopeadics Surgeons are god...............

Might as well post my career ending injury lol.

April of 09’ leaving school driving down I-4 this dimwit decides to smash on her breaks for no reason. I hit my breaks but smashed into her doing about 50. Airbag knocked me out and when I came to I couldn’t move my leg. One rod and 4 screws in my femur had me walking 3 weeks later but my femur didn’t fully heal until the following January. Never was able to get back to full strength though. Should have took rehab more serious.

I worked in orthopaedics over 50 years. Surgical procedures have definitely improved over these many years. While in Miami, I worked part-time @ what was then called Variety Children's Hospital off Red Road. Some of you old 'Canes may remember this, along with the orthopaedic Surgeon Bob Keiser, MD who headed up a group practice in the Gables (Keiser, Tindall, etc.) I think they were our team doctors. I also knew Drs. Meyer, Holmes, & Samartino.

surgeons dont get enough credit. my father is a retired Orthopaedics surgeon that practiced in arkansas. god bless them.

thanks my friend, im glad that folks like you all are still around. it feels good to hear.

Had a 6 vertebrae fusion April 29th 2018. Car flipped 5 times and my head smacked the roof of the car, with 200 lbs of body mass right behind it. One of my vertebrae exploded and my entire spine was compressed. At the time of the surgery, I was around 1 hour away from paralysis. Took months of rehabilitation but I'm 100% .and I thank all the surgeons at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Vanderbilt Spine Center for their amazing work.
And I thank Dr. Levine of Holy Cross Hospital for not operating.

So all he ever did was practice instead of performing surgery?
What a dead end gig.
Too bad there wasn't an orthopedic Portal back in the day.

Matador, at age 80, I don't take too much in life seriously, particularly college football forums. I actually enjoy some of the crazy posts. Keeps life in perspective. My grandchildren enjoy telling people that their grandfather played for the 'Canes & that their grandmother follows and posts on the 'Canes football forums and actually understands football.
