Oregon Pulled Mario Extension according to a Report

He's still going to need to coach during the games, and all the recruiting in the world won't cover him there. He's going to need top coordinators or he's going to fail here, top 10 classes or not. This year was a good example of what we'll get with Mario without top coordinators. A talented team that can beat most teams, but a team undisciplined enough to slip up against anyone. What Miami needs is not simply the most talented team, but a coach that can get the most out of that talent. Again, he's going to need great coordinators.

Also, why the living **** would it take time to win here? We have an NFL QB, decent talent all over the place, except at LB, and a Coastal division we SHOULD have won this year with Manny Diaz. If Mario is even half decent we win the Coastal next year. I'm not talking world beaters, I'm talking half decent. If he can't win the Coastal in year one with Pitt and UNC losing their QBs to the NFL, and us keeping ours, it's going to be really ugly.

No good coach will take years to build a Coastal/ACC champion at Miami. We have talent. Not a perfect roster, but talent. Especially where it counts the most. The only way we don't win the Coastal is if he hires bums.

For the record, Miami has been the most talented team in the Coastal for a very long time, and we see what that has gotten us. Talent alone will never win a championship. And spare me the 2001 team. Those young men had really good coaching for years and were on cruise control in 01. They did not win on talent alone, but rather with talent that was well coached before Coker took over.

I am not completely against hiring Mario, but we'd better shell out some serious cash and he'd better hire some really good coordinators, or we're going to see some **** ugly losses with all that talent. Kind of like the last 15 years.

Oregon is similar to the girl who knows she isn’t that attractive, so she wears a ton of makeup, wears revealing clothes, and goes all out in the bedroom. Yeah she will get the interest of some guys, but at the end of the day when she has to take off the makeup and push up bras and the *** gets old, those guys are ready to bounce and look for their long term girl.

Saban won in year 2, and Dabo was making 800K when he first took the Clemson job. Cristobal would have the best QB and best roster, while also being the highest paid coach in the division. If you can't win with the best QB and best roster, when will he win?

I agree that Miami is the tougher job not because of the conference but because the lack of admin and financial support that Oregon has. I also agree that the team needs to be rebuilt and it starts with stacking solid recruiting classes. The only thing I don't agree with is the ceiling part. I don't know who has the higher ceiling at Miami but the vibe is that Mario would be a long term hire. Kiffen on the other hand seems like he would give us a couple of 9-10 wins seasons and then be on his way.

The good news is for the first time in a very long time it looks like The Canes may be on their way up instead of the steady decline/plateau its been on for the past 15+ years.

To be fair, if reports are true we will soon be referring to the Mas Brothers and John Ruiz as “Los Tios Mas y El Padrino Juan”.

Oregon has to recruit nationally, and I‘m including Southern California as national. And with U$C flexing again, recruiting will be even tougher. Mario is an excellent recruiter but location counts, IMO. I don‘t think Mario locks down every top player in South Florida, no one could, but I believe he’ll fair much, much better than Diaz. Ask @Coach Macho (sorry Coach), Diaz is a joke to high school coaches, whereas Mario is respected.

Oregon has been stacking Top 20 classes for awhile man. Mario but those top 10 Classes but pretty much no matter who the HC was at Oregon they could put together a Top 20 Class.

The point is the talent depth in Florida is far greater than in Oregon. Yes, the Ducks can collect recruits into a Top 20 class but have to work harder to accomplish this. And it will be more difficult when U$C begins controlling SoCal.

But, it doesn’t matter any more, does it?
