Orange Bowl Game Thread

I don't really know how to do this, but didn't see a thread anywhere yet discussing anything related to plans to go to the OB game at The Rock.

As I understand it, ticket requests are due in to the school on Wednesday. I haven't been able to find out anything about the size of the allotment yet, but we just got an email from the school on the breakdown of donor levels and how many tickets you can request per level. Looking at Stubhub and Ticketmaster, it looks like seats will definitely be cheaper through the school than the after market.

I looked into hotels yesterday and the hotel we stayed in for VT and ND was already booked up. I got a room at another hotel nearby, but it looks like if you're planning to come in from out of town and want to stay near the stadium, you better get on it.

Who's planning on going? Any info on Miami's ticket allotment for the game? Where are the 'Canes seating sections going to be? Are we going to be home team or away?

Is there enough interest among Canes fam to make this anything resembling a home game, or are those fat chedderlegs going to come in and take over our stadium?

It’s official! Hurricanes Football will take on Wisconsin in the Capital One Orange Bowl at Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday, December 30. Due to the anticipated demand for tickets, we ask that you please read the following carefully regarding your ticket request.

Hurricane Club members have until Wednesday, December 6, at 5:00 PM to increase their 2017 giving level and submit a ticket request for the Orange Bowl.

STEP 1 – Right now, you have the option to elevate your giving level with an additional donation for the purpose of increasing your rank and/or ticket request limit. To donate now, click here. For more information on how to increase your gift, please call (305) 284-6699 or 1-800-GO-CANES starting at 8:30 a.m. on Monday.

STEP 2 – Submit your ticket request for the Orange Bowl. The fulfillment of your ticket request is NOT guaranteed. Requests will be fulfilled by 2017 giving level and rank within giving level.


STEP 3 – After the deadline, ticket requests will be fulfilled in order of 2017 giving level and rank within giving level until our allotment is sold out.

Club seats .... do Dolphin season ticket holders get any sort of priority to purchase?

Have club seats for the Canes and want similar seats.
 
Apparently, the allotment for Wisconsin is 15k. Have to assume Miami gets the same.

Good question. Based on a quick google search, the Dolphins do not appear to have a personal seat license regime. If that is still the case, I don't see how being a Dolphins season ticket holder would have anything to do with purchasing tickets for the bowl game.

All based on donation level, priemer seats are sold through the Orange Bowl. I got an email from the school because I have box seats for Canes and they had the orange bowl contact me directly to get the same
 
The ticket rep I spoke to said they got more tickets than the ACCCG (7k I believe) but, of course, they're also getting a lot more requests this time around. I asked what the allotment was and she wouldn't budge - my guess would be ~10k.
 
Looks like Wisconsin got 14K seats in their allotment.

University of Wisconsin football fans can begin to purchase tickets to the Orange Bowl in Florida starting Monday as the Badgers will take on the University of Miami.

Fans will get to see the Badgers face off against the Hurricanes, who will be playing at their home stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, during the Dec. 30 game. While this will be Wisconsin’s first-ever Orange Bowl appearance, the Badgers were seeking a playoff berth.

But the 27-21 loss to Ohio State in the 2017 Big Ten Championship on Saturday dashed the playoff hopes of the previously undefeated Badgers. The loss to the Buckeyes dropped the Badgers, previously sitting at fourth in the College Football Playoff rankings, by two spots and out of playoff contention.

On Sunday afternoon outside Memorial Union, UW-Madison sophomore Arjun Sachar was returning from Indianapolis, where the championship was held, with four friends.

While they had a fun time on the trip, Sachar said the $130 tickets they bought off Ticketmaster put them right above the Ohio State student section and in earshot of a consistent O-H-I-O chant.

The Badgers’ loss left Sachar “fairly disappointed,” he said, and soured his ambition to go to the final game of the season.

“It’s either playoffs or bust,” he said.

Sachar remains confident, though, of Wisconsin’s ability to beat the Hurricanes.

Sophomore Elizabeth Mitchell is mulling the trip as it presents an opportunity to visit her brother, who attends the University of Miami. While she’s been to the campus before, the game would be her first visit as a rival.

Starting at 7 p.m. Monday, university students can buy tickets. The purchase window runs until 10 p.m. Monday or until the approximately 1,000 seats in the student section sell out. Students are limited to two tickets, which run $50 apiece. Tickets can be secured through UWBadgers.com.

Season-ticket holders and Wisconsin Athletics donors have until noon Monday to request tickets to the Florida game. If any remain, the general public can purchase tickets starting at noon on Tuesday by going to UWBadgers.com, by calling 1-800-GO-BADGERS, or in person at the Wisconsin Athletic Ticket Office, 1440 Monroe St.

Prices are $230 or $170 depending on location. The university has been allotted approximately 14,000 tickets in total.


The Wisconsin Alumni Association is also offering package trips to Florida that include hotel, airfare, access to the Badger Huddle pregame event and other perks. Packages with airfare start at $2025 per person and $1055 without airfare. They can be purchased by going to uwalumni.com/bowl.
 
Hotels are going to be obviously tight already because its Christmas/New Years week. Has nothing to do with the game
