Opposing FG Kickers

Blocking PATs and FGs is definitely an art and a science. This was the key reason I always hated playing VT - Beamer Ball was probably the best kick and punt blocking team we ever played. Beamer emphasized ST and I think was his own special teams coach for a number of years.

Garvin blocked a punt against UNC. This was the only special teams play of note all season, at least that I can recall.

No missed FGs by the opposition seems like a fluke, though.

Mostly because we played it safe on defense and opponents knew that so I'm sure they coach their kickers to just relax.

On the flipside, Darrell F'ing Langham pretty much won 2 football games for us via miracle catches. I suppose we burned all our good luck on those 2 plays.

On a serious note - that's too big of a coincidence.... we need to get more pressure.

The VA Tech kicker was 1-10 from outside 50. Right down the middle against us. The Syracuse kicker sucked except when he played us. Went 4-4

Our special teams have been schit since rick got here.

If we are gonna hire a 10th corch it should be someone that can fix that. I don't think rick has it in him with everything he's put on his own plate.

The first thing I thought when I saw those misses was I guarantee had he played us he would've made them. But PharmCane305 has a valid point...we put 0 pressure on FG kickers this whole season. I know for sure that plays a factor. If a FG kicker feels comfortable, they will hit more often than not. We made these mofos feel very cush in the backfield. Our ST as a whole was bull chit.

Assuming an expected FG % of 75% for our opponents, the likelihood that they’d go 21/21 is 0.0023. Either we have very bad luck or our FG defense is horrific or both.

I still don't get how Langham's catch against FSU was a "miracle." It was a clean play. Great throw and good catch.

Any other team in the country and nobody calls it a miracle.

FG defense? The fvck? Yeah we should block a kick each year but if yu can't see that as just ridiculous luck I really can't help you

but but but we have a bunch of posters who've never played football assuring us our FG defense was responsible for those guys making it.

The football IQ of this board, outside a few guys like High Seas, is non-existent

I checked on '16.
The last FG miss was a block by Jaquan at VT on their last attempt.
The last clean miss was UNC the week before.
ND was 3/3 on FG's. NC St. was 2/2. No attempts by Pitt,UVA, Duke or WVU.

Kickers have hit 26 straight against us.

I thought the same thing. Georgia has the opposite luck as us this year with FG. Last game the OU kicker had a 30 yarder blocked. This game Bama has 2 easy misses and Georgia makes a 50+ yarder in OT. It really is quite incredible

Wusup with those top skill moves in the box video. I know u got some more info bro? Lol
