Tiny school is surprised to hear that slightly less tiny school has fans and also alumni.

I never never understand why this is like a dig or a talking point. Does anyone on this board who didnt go to UM feel slighted by this? I did get a degree from the U so this ish doesnt apply to me but like as an alum I think its cool we can get an entire city behind us because we are a bad *** team even though a lot of our fans never went. Like okay Wake, how many fans do you have that didnt go to school? None? All your fans are alumni? Okay. Now it just seems like a cult and the only way people root for you is if they went to school there because if they didnt, they think yall suck. I dont get it.

It’s really weird, because my daughter goes to an SEC school and 50% of the people I meet didn’t go to school there but are still allowed to be fans!
A few people called this guy out and he immediately wanted to throw up his hands and play innocent.

It’s the only way these smaller schools can try holding anything over fans. Like no one willingly becomes a Wake Forest diehard. I’ll pull for my alma mater, Kennesaw State, but I’m not starting and scouring a Kennesaw State message board about football.

it's always non-top level teams that try to argue that as a "gotcha point"..... if you don't have fans from your own city that didn't go to the university, it mostly means your team has never been relevant. Some instagram dude went around at a huge UT Longhorn tailgate and was asking everyone if they are alumni, and 90% said No... and that's a big state school.... people just don't realize how small and expensive of a school UM is...

One thing I don’t like is the possibility for a weather delay. Delays on the road are always challenging for the visiting team. Oregon this past weekend, Smu almost losing to fspoo, Ucf vs Pitt and there’s a few more

Kevin Jennings was throwing books lol they would’ve been just fine if he wasn’t doing that

Statistically speaking, road teams cover a 3+ touchdown spread against conference opponents in night games just 7.4% of the time.

Actually, I made that stat up. We should crush WF.

I live in Ohio. Everyone and their mother is an OSU fan pretty much. Alumni or not. It’s the same way in Michigan, Wisconsin and Iowa too. Alumni status doesn’t mean ****. As long as you’re not bandwagoning root for whoever you want

Did quick chatgpt research and since 2016 its 52% for spreads that close between 20-24.5

Road favorites covering a 21+ spread

But I found it wild that you said 7.4% because it also says that road favorites in the 17.5-24 point bucket since 1997 have lost outright 7.4% of the time (quoted from a Phil Steele research article)
