Opens -21.5 vs WF

Wake will score and move the ball but we’ll just do it more . I see 38-41 to 21/24, something like that. I expect them to try to play the part of the giants versus Dallas. Run clock , extend drives and force Miami to drive the field. GT circa 2024

Taking Wake over 17.5 points at even money. Miami will put up 40 points but give up a little. If I'm wrong, then I won't booze for a day.

How can Cane fans talk down to ND (most are confident in a win on the road), consider us a top 5 team across the board, but also be scared to play Wake Fu**ing Forest lol.

The math doesn't quite work.
 
I had Wake-Purdue on in the quad box, and had it as the sole game for a while.

1. They play zone, but they can’t “play” zone. Middle of the field was open the entire game and Purdue took advantage of it.

2. I don’t know if they just need better form, or if it’s a talent issue that is limiting how much they can explode thru ball carriers. But they cannot tackle. If you told me they missed 30 tackles in the Purdue game, I wouldn’t be shocked. And if you told me it was less than 20 I’d view you the same way I view anybody that supported the Enos hire.

3. Lopez cannot throw downfield. Dude missed on every downfield pass and there were a couple of times he had guys HS open. But our off coverage scheme probably plays into what he does do well. It’s a mistake to worry about limiting explosives from a QB that can’t create them.

Wake is probably going to score. But a lot of that will be due to sheer volume of plays run, because our offense is going to put up chunk yards. Tons of space in this defense and guys who can’t make tackles to limit the big plays in space. Scoring at will means giving the opposing offense a lot of chances to score as well. I’m expecting a blowout, but not one where Wake scores 10 points.

Lol I'm not afraid of wake forest nor the noise... I've already said we're going to win by 30 but to think that it's a non-factor and that if they're not prepared for it to be loud because its small.... the inexperienced OL that already has communication issues at Stanford and home against FAMU is in for a rude awakening. The OL has a massive step to take this week.

The most veteran/experienced OL in the country had issues with noise at SMU. Downplay 5 procedural penalties all you want. That game didn't look close on the field, but we couldn't score because we continuously shot ourselves in the foot.

Thinking you're supposed to be blowing teams out and then it being close and getting tight and pressing is the best formula to get beat and that's how its happened every time since 2024. GT, Syracuse, Louisville, SMU.

Not allowed to point out talking points and scenarios on a message board without being a *****.

I'm not saying I agree, but I think your answer is because Mario Cristobal has a proven track record of having his teams up to play well in big games, and a proven track record of ****ting down his leg as a big favorite a time or two each year.

We've lost 5 games the last 2 seasons (I don't count the bowl game after the 2024 season but if you want to, it even furthers my point because we were favored).

We were favored to win 4 of those games. The only time we've been an underdog and lost in the last 30 games is Indiana. The other 4 losses (again, 5 if you want to count the bowl game), we were favored. Several of those by double-digits. Now, to be fair, none were as a 21 point favorite. But in 2024, we were favored by 17 against VT and had to survive a last-second Hail Mary. GT in 2024 was around -10. Syracuse was more, IIRC. About -11 or -12. We lost both those games.

So yes, if you're a true historian of Mario, you can simultaneously be confident we beat Notre Dame in South Bend while also nervous about a road game against Wake Forest.

That being said, just don't turn the ball over 2+ times and don't approach 10+ penalties and we will smoke this team.
 
Mensah (quite possibly the best QB in the country) and Mali (arguably the best player in the country) won't let us start slow or lose games like this. This is their team.

This team has a different talent-level, depth, and character compared to the last two seasons.

My only question is if our starters will play past the 3rd quarter.
 
Score 60. Give up 6. Or we riot.

For the record, we all have essentially the same prediction for this game.

Our offense will play well, maybe not as dominant as the first 2 games. Our defense will give up some, but we'll ultimately pull away.

Side note: We had an issue with procedural penalties on the OL most of last year in the regular season. Even during home games. It wasn't just because of the big bad crowd at SMU.

Lastly, let me ask this. If ND was playing @ Wake Friday night, would anyone predict anything other than a decisive blowout? Yet the overall consensus here is our program is vastly superior to theirs.
