Only 10 scheduled opponents for 2018?

My guess is that they’re scrambling to find an opponent.

I’m generally very charitable with my criticism of Blake and the athletic department, but this is one where they don’t get a pass from me. No well run organization should find themselves in this position and it’s not the first time. This affects the team, the fan base, the quality of the opposition, etc.

I can’t imagine Rick, or Frenk, are too happy with Blake right now.

I'm curious as to what the schedule is going to be also. Just got my season ticket renewal paperwork and I'd like to know what I'm paying for.

The assured me today that it would be 6 home games. But until I see a press release confirming that we have another game scheduled, I'm not holding my breath. Back in 2004 and 2005 we only had 11 games. Maybe thats on the table again for 2018

FBS only went to a 12 game regular season about 6-7 years ago. I doubt Miami will purposely forgo a twelfth game this year after losing a game last season. That said, I'm pretty sure they raised my ticket prices despite the fact that we're getting one less home game.

My rep also told me there will be 6 games, this was before I realized FIU was cancelled. I asked since we had 7 this year and he said it depends on the scheduling in advance but rotates. I certainly hope I'm not paying top dollar for 5 games, I might call him again but he probably doesn't know what the athletic department will do

From my experience, the people at the Hurricane ticket office have no idea what they're doing. Ever.

Think big picture. The administration saw us go 10-0 this year, and are expecting the same next year. Scheduling more than 10 most certainly means losses. Brilliant move.

Another reason to love our tranny ***ing potato that is in charge of the athletic department.

Blake James has done a great job, a big reason for this scramble is Rutgers canceling our home and home only a few months ago. Fingers crossed we can find someone to play.

How about FAU? UCF? USF?

You think it’s that easy? Just call them up and say, hey let’s play, like scheduling a pickup game. Don’t you think they already have their schedules set for next year?

Try again.

You're right. I forgot we are the only legit P5 team with an incompetent AD who is routinely incapable of giving us a full schedule.

How is he routinely incapable of giving us a full schedule? On what other occasions did he not get us a full schedule?

Not that he doesn’t deserve criticism for this. He does.

We should schedule a home and away with SMU and TCU. Get that Texas recruiting pipeline going.

We were in this same situation 2 years ago. We had to last minute fill a game with Bethune Cookman.

Not believing you until you show me a source.

Here’s an article from earlier in that year where it already showed BC on the schedule. By the way, they were our only FCS opponent that year.

Miami Hurricanes announce 2015 schedule - Sun Sentinel

James announced Savannah and FIU in August

SAVANNAH STATE
Sept. 8 at Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens

Miami will play the FCS team, James told The Post (he did not disclose details of the contract).

Savannah State is best known for its losing role in the most lopsided win in Hurricanes history: a 77-7 drubbing in 2013 in which UM scored a school-record 77 points (that included, as fate would have it, an injury to Miami’s starting quarterback. No one wanted to see that.

FIU
Sept. 22 at Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens

First time Miami will play the Panthers since 2006, when, well, yeah. The schools, separated by nine miles, put football back on the schedule in 2014.

“We want the crosstown rivalry,” then-UM President Donna Shalala said when the series was finalized.

In a home-and-home set, the visiting school will get $500,000 from the home school. As FIU AD Pete Garcia noted at the time, the main benefit will be the “hundreds of thousands of dollars in savings” on travel.

And plenty of intrigue, especially if coach Butch Davis builds the Panthers into a feisty mid-major. Davis, who coached UM from 1995-2000 and is credited with bringing the program back to national prominence, badly wanted the Canes’ head coaching job in 2015 but was passed over for Richt.

Scheduling Savannah St, Charleston Southern, FAMU, Bethune and those teams is total BS. Who the **** wants to go watch a 55-0 beat down.. At least schedule aG5 team that can give the team a workout for a quarter like Toledo.

Just remember while we were losing to Pitt, Clemson was playing the Citadel and Alabama was playing Mercer.
