One Reason Why Chip Kelly Is A Great Fit At Miami

These Butch sychophants are lunatics.
It's really weird.

Is it? Our fan base is pretty....

Chip Kelly Da 1 true Gawd has this poRster shook!

I mean be honest. It's not like Chip Kelly ever went into a situation where he was already down 30 scholly's or taking over a team that had only managed to win like 27 of their last 72 games.

Chip Kelly took over a program that was winning 9-11 games regularly.

Once again. I'm not disparaging anyone's opinion I just want all sides to be considered.

I do love Butch Davis though.

Oregon before Chip

7-5
8-5
5-6
10-2
7-6
9-4
10-3

Why did you stop at the 7-5 (actually 7-6) in 2002?

2001 11-1
2000 10-2
1999 9-3

So just to be factual here......In the 10 years prior to Potato Chip being hired the Oregon Ducks won 9 or more games in 6-10 of those seasons.

Let's keep it 100% ok?

It's not like Oregon was UNC or anything. They were already a well established quality Pac-10 team when Potato Chip took them over.

Then why not go back further? Oregon was 7-5 and 6-5 the two years before that. Clearly, they weren't winning 9-11 games EVERY YEAR before Chip got there.

OK I can live with that. Now just to clarify and make sure we are both on the same page here fact wise:

In the 12 seasons prior to Potato Chip taking over the HC job at Oregon 50% (6/12) of those seasons were 9+ win seasons.

That's not exactly chopped liver my friend. That's a pretty well established progrum.

Not sure how "every year" is relevant here. I never said anything about "every year". I'm not sure how or why that phrase is being bandied about in this conversation.

Teams recruited by Butch Davis = 4 NCs -- they are so good he didnt' need to coach them.

Absolute lunacy!!!!

You guys have basically no means of putting up logical arguments. You say something and it sounds good to you.. You likely fist pump yourself in the mirror and you run with it.

You have no idea what Butch's role was with all those teams but you talk like he was the only reason there is a FN Miami.

Like he built the Miami machine.

Butch mooched off the Miami machine as much as anyone. Quit acting like he was the reason for it and get a sense of reality.

Butch is unemployed and there is only one school that would hire him and its looking like that school in fact will not hire him.

I am not sure you realize your place in this world, but let me break it down for you....

You are not a football expert.. your a porster who is delirious to the point where you believe your own nonsense.

You also have no clue how good of a coach Butch is... even when he was at Miami people did not like him as a coach.

Your mind is playing tricks on you... take a step back, go outside, just walk around the block, collect your thoughts and when you get back change your screen name and star over.

What Miami machine are you talking about? Howard left a wonderful team for JJ complete with two fantastic QBs and lots of great players. Butch was key recruiter for JJ who won his NC after most of Howard's players were gone. JJ left an even better bunch of players for Dennis, players recruited with Butch. So good that Dennis won two more NCs -- some think Dennis a great coach but notice he never won another NC anywhere after he ran out of players Butch recruited or help recruit. Do we really need to talk about what happened next -- the greatest collection of football talent ever?

You are correct, I am not a football exert. The proof is I was one of the idiots who wanted Butch fired the first he was HC, so I am certainly not an expert. Having the misfortune of being old enough to have watched that gator Charlie Tate walk our sideline, I am prepared to say that Butch is second only to Howard, as the person most responsible our glory. Was he solely responsible, of course not, but JJ had nothing to do with our last NC, Butch did. Dennis had nothing to do with our 2nd NC, Butch did. Howard had nothing to do with our 3rd and 4th HCs, but Butch did. Howard, having started it all and leaving a team that, had JJ been a better HC, would have one 2 more NCs, get top of the heap status(even if he got us probation once).

Who do you, almighty one, suggest is better suit to return Miami to its glory? Please note I said return to glory, not win 10 frigging meaningless games. I dare say that task goes beyond a bunch of Xs and Os on whatever medium you choose. If you are happy with the 10 win seasons and no NCs then we are not talking about the same goals.

I stopped reading here. If you don't recognize that the Miami became one of the greatest football brands in the country during the nineties before butch took over then you truly have nothing reasonable to say. Miami changed football and its the reason we are still hated today.

You ignore WHERE the players that did that came from and WHO got them here. Butch recruited for JJ, who left those players that Dennis use to complete the changed Miami imposed on football. Howard started the chance on the offensive side. JJ destroyed the option from the defensive side. Dennis floated down the river those two dug with the players Butch recruited. When the last of those players were gone, Dennis became just another West Coast coach with a gimmick defense. By the nineties football was changed by Miami already and we were hated.

Butch came back and saved us from the mess Dennis left. Then he left the greatest team ever, which was his only to take credit for. If you think we did our terraforming in the 90's you missed a huge chuck of the good old days. The only NC we have that Butch did not touch is the 1st.

So Art Kehoe is who we should really hire. He recruited as part of the staff players for every NC we've ever had. Butch what? Give me Kehoe.

On a serious note, in my 30 years of being a fan of this program, I've never once heard someone try and credit Butch like you just did.

You would also be the only fan of this program who I've ever heard say they have Butch ahead of all our coaches other than Howard. You my friend are alone in that island, fair enough.

Don't believe Chip comes to Miami, but anyone who doesn't think he'd be great is nuts. If Saban retired today, Chip would be one of the few hires that wouldn't be disappointing to Tide fans.

Saban, Meyer, Harbaugh and Chip are in a class by themselves in the college game IMO.

Oregon's facilities funded by Nike blew away the competition. Miami's facilities just blow. Kelly did great at Oregon no doubt but he won't have the Nike facilities/money backing him and helping him recruit at Miami. His image with dudes who come from my old neighborhood ain't so good these days either. Dude brought in Sam Bradford to Philly. He's lost his luster. In other words, f*ck him.

Facilities and Nike helped recruiting some but it was Chip's innovative attack that made Oregon into a power.

Miami would be lucky to have him. Oh and no one give a **** what the dudes from your old neighborhood think..
