If this staff can land a quality portal DT in the 6-3, 6-4, 310 - 320 range, this team will have playoff level size and depth up front (big pause)

1. Portal DT
2. C.J. Clark RSR 6-3 305
3. Ahmad Moten RSO 6-3 325
4. Josh Horton RFR 6-4 295
5. Justin Scott FR 6-4 310
6. Artavius Jone FR 6-3 305

This will give the staff the flexibility the be very creative upfront with different packages.

Big DE's (guys who can play inside and outside, inside in the NASCAR and outside in both goal line and 3-3-5)
1. Jared Harrison-Hunte 6th RSR 6-4 285
2. Anthony Campbell RSR 6-7 300 (According to D-Money he has received some 1st team reps this spring)
3. Akheem Mesidor RJR 6-3 280
4. Rueben Bain, Jr. SO 6-3 275
5. Armondo Blount FR 6-2 310 (According to the updated roster)

The question is who will that portal DT be.

Top 3 of who I would like to see this staff throw a bag at and land (I'm talking Cam type money if necessary)
1. Deone Walker 6-6 350 Kentucky
2. Derrick Harmon 6-5 320 Michigan St
3. Tyleik Williams 6-3 330 Ohio State

One of those 3 guys will take the defense to another level. Who do you think we go after?

1 DT away from what? We already have 10.

DT for sure.
RB for sure.
CB for sure.
WR probably.

We can’t afford all four positions, so pick 2 from the above 4 and hope that the frosh and redshirt frosh develop quickly.

Fun hypothetical:
Given the choice to improve the team would you rather have:

DT: Warren Sapp
S: Sean Taylor or Ed Reed
WR: Andre Johnson
CB: Antrel Rolle

Its a bit unfair for the CB choice so its really the first 3 options. But whatever your answer is, would be the position you think we should invest in $$ for the portal.

(I would go Ed Reed at safety)

Sapp even though Taylor is my favorite Cane of all time and I find Sapp a little obnoxious.

IF the light comes on for Jadais Richard..I would argue CB isnt really a "must have" if we have Porter, Richard, and Brown as our top 3..with Powell sliding down as needed. Now of course, we got nothing behind those 3-4..so a depth piece is needed but not someone who is looking for starters minutes. I like what I am hearing about Richard so far and I loved what I saw from him in that FSU game. He showed Chevis Jackson that he has some skills he can work with.

The OP didnt even bring up Marley Cook so I guess the reports from insiders are true that he is a Spring portal bust. Ugh. Not good. If that is the case, getting a DT is the #1 priority.

Not sure we throw 1.5 million at 1 DT, when we can diversify and get quality players at CB, RB, S and WR

Agreed. I’m also very high on Damari Brown. Our talent there is more promising than at Safety or DT

You throw that kind of money at a DT this late in the game and you might as well have gone all in on Walter Nolan! So I agree.

As far as RB, I am only going all in if there is a stud that jumps in like Treyvon Henderson or someone of that level.

Give me a RB, Safety, CB, maybe WR if the right guy comes along. Wish we would have went after Stewart. And a guy like Henderson from OSU and a starting Safety and we be straight

Deone Walker is the most viable option as a 1 year free Agent. He is from Detroit and is at UK, where he was ready to jump in the portal after the Fall season but with Mark Stoops not going to TAM, Walker decided to stay. So the option to play 1year in Miami while making **** near 7 figures and padding his highlights by victimizing inferior ACC olinemen could be very enticing. The big red flag I see Coach Cristobal having a problem with is that on occasion the young man goes off script in press conferences and provides BB material for opposing teams.

Another plot twist is that Walker is a huge Calias Campbell fan an tries to model his game after him. So overtures from Miami and training with Calias would be very enticing.

Walker does seem to have the character traits (outside of talking smack) that Coach Cristobal wants, based on the interview with UK's dline coach

Derrick Harmon went back to MSU so he could 1 more at home in front of his very ill mother, so he is not going anywhere unless she goes and the specialists she sees are in Michigan.

Tyleik Williams I am not up on the 411.

Go Canes
