One good aspect of this class

Clearly, we have not reeled in enough elite prospects to get us back to where we belong. Until we start consistently pulling in the McGahees, Rolles, and Wilforks of the South Florida world, and a national guy like DJ Williams each year, we will not compete with the big boys. But, this is the first class in a long time that has very few projects/reaches. Rosier (though I think he could be a player in the secondary) and Linder could be considered reaches. But the overall quality of this class is as good as we've had in years and better than most of the teams that ended up ranked at the end of last year.

Just as important, I think we struck gold at the most important position in the game. Of course any projection is speculative at this point, but BK looks legit. Dude is a prototype who also appears to be smart and savvy.

The collective talent of this class, coupled with a potential franchise QB, is very encouraging to me. With everything working against us, including the coaching deficiencies (that must be corrected), I don't know how any reasonable fan could be disappointed in this class. It's exactly the type that gets us to the point where we will regularly beat the teams we should beat. And in order to attract the elite guys, we need to do that first.

I don't want another qb turnt db (highSmith). Unless he's an option qb #rugbytough

Highsmith was a DB in high school. For whatever reason, Randy decided it would be great to put him at QB because all of our QB's transferred once Randy named Jacory the starter.

+1 OP!

We may not have the number of 5 star studs that Bama has. But this class has great BALANCE. Can't miss d-line prospects. Edge rushers. Thumpers. Big wr's. Slot wr's. Elite running back. Elite QB. Absolute maulers on the o-line. Would it be great to have more elite prospects? Sure, but we didn't "miss" at any position group. And as we all know from our struggles on the defensive line the last 2 years, that is KEY. If we were to get this type of class year in and year out, we would always have a chance to be a national contender.

Give me JC Jackson and put a cherry on top of this class.

I would have Hendon on my reach list but that's mostly because he is under the radar

that kid is a physical freak...ive been on the bandwagon....B-BALL player..legit 6'3-6'4 220-230 and can run......

When he ran the fly and blew past Nigel Pathel i knew something was there...

Reaches are Mayes, Rosier.

your thoughts on McCray?

Im not gogeta but ive seen McCrary play 3 times and im tellin you the kid can ball. You dont get 30+ sacks in two years, in broward county, playing the comp he played against and be a "reach". Ive said he is the Mike Smith of Broward. We need as many pass rushers as possible and this kid is it. Will be bring immediate impact? No. But we dont need him to. Give him a redshirt, let him learn the second year, and turn him lose the third..

Great post by the OP as well. Losing Valentine would REALLY hurt because I had visions of him, Moten, CT, and DJ forming a GREAT front 4 in 2-3 years but looks like thats not gonna happen. So looks like we gotta plug Jenkins into that spot.

But i have said MANY times that there are very few reaches in this class. AND this class is ALOT better top to bottom this last years. If we can add a few guys in these last couple days that would make me even happier.

guys talking about reaches, yet those are the 3 star guys that would go to Wisc, Iowa and the like and blow up. We have great balance. I believe that cook and lane looked out the opportunity to play EARLY at FSU. We have more than them at those to positions. Now let's close strong Al.

You think miami has deeper RB and wideout groups then FSU

Top 20 talent, like the classes Golden has pulled so far, apparantly aren't enough to compete with Duke, VT and UVA, so anything but a top 5 is a failure, won't help.

this OP is actually very well put, what a nice surprise!

but yeah this is true. we're a year off of recruiting at FSU's level imo... if we have a good 2014 season the 2015 class could be better than theirs.

and if they stumble a bit at QB after jameis leaves and kayaa or olsen turns out to be a stud we could catch them sooner than people might think.

Wisc and Iowa....their O-line knows how to open up holes like no bodies business..
I don't think Cook and lane are looking to play early...WR and RB positions are stacked there
Lane and Rudolph are going to have to compete to be apart of that rotation...

Last I checked FSU's RB: C. Williams, Wilder, Green, and you haven't even seen Pender and now your adding Cook
We have: Duke, Yearby, Gus, Crawford????? Cook may be redshirting...I think kids want to play on winning teams
and offenses that have identities...I love Coley but lets be honest we are watching him learn on the job...

MIami has losts of playing time available...We need a big WR and Big back...they both would have been suitable for our positions of need would have been a nice close along with a DT..

imo the class is solid as **** and yes we missed out on a few elite's but bottom line it comes down to work ethic that each player puts in during the season and off season and we as canes fans need to stop comparing everything to the past (2001 etc), this is a whole diffrent era of players and its just something we need to get use to. im for 1 take it as it is and just for an example look at the class randy pulled in with jacory. etc we see how that turned out, there was alot of ups and downs and i being here in North Carolina rep The U to the fullest and im surrounded by UNC, DUKE, NC STATE, WAKE, ECU (i saw my canes 3 times this past yr live @unc @duke @fsu) etc. Im proud of what the class is turning out to be even with a few missed recruits its shaping up to be solid and i predict it will easily be a top 10 class, Go CANES you have a big supporter here in Raleigh and keep an eye on Berrios kid can ball trust me and cant wait till NSD (I EVEN TOOK A VAC DAY TO WATCH IT....GO CANES)....stay positive guys and try to keep all the negativity off the boards...Go Canes!!!
