One example of CMRs ability to adjust his play calling to the natural strengths of the team.

I’m sure you all remember 2016 with Richt through the first 8 games trying to fit a square peg into a round hole with Kaaya. We were 4-4 with 4 losses in a row and everyone of us was screaming on here to stop running a spread option offense with Kaaya because he’s not an option QB due to his lack of athleticism. Then finallly CMR made the adjustment to start scheming/calling plays to Kaaya strengths instead of forcing Kaaya into his system and what happened, we won 5 straight and had one of the hottest/dynamic offenses in the country at that point. Now I know this is just a small sample size but it does show that when finally under extreme pressure CMR has the ability to change. Hopefully he has another look in the mirror moment like after the ND game in 2016 and makes that change in his scheme. To waste this defense is just so unforgivable! Smh

He also did some game planning for ND and VT last year. Still, I don’t expect anything different.

Actually, the offense took off under Kayaa when they dumped the I formation pro-set stuff and went spread 90% of the time. Unfortunately it took until the second half of the Notre Dame game (our 4th straight loss) for them to make the change. Not surprisingly, the offense came to life and they won out the rest of the season.

If we could pair the 2016 offense from the last half of the season with the 2018 defense, that would definitely be an ACC Coastal winner and possibly even decent competition for Clemson. The WVU game was great, but remember, we also had tough road games against UVA and NC State in that stretch that the team negotiated fairly comfortably as well.

It's what gives me some hope, the idea that if Richt just looked at what he was doing a couple years ago, and tried to do that again, we'd be more successful. I seem to recall Kaaya getting a lot of easy throws, and AR82 getting the ball in space.

This thread had me thinking of this game. Man, we were moving the ball with ease.

P.S. Ahmmon and Walton. Ballers.

Man oh man we looked good those last 5 games ending with that awesome performance we put on in the bowl game. So this shows Richt can adjust to the strengths of the team. Here’s to hoping he does it next Friday at BC.

This right here.

All year long we struggled to run the ball (sounds familiar) and then against both ND and VT last year we ran it effectively and consistently. IIRC we saw a lot of stretch run plays against VT and against ND we saw Herndon lined up in the backfield all night long acting as lead blocker. Two things we never saw before, and then, inexplicably, we never saw again. Richt came back out against UVA the next week after the ND game and went back to his obsession of running between the tackles and we went back to not being able to run the ball.

It seems that it's not even that Richt has a playbook of about 4 plays, it's that he can't get it through his thick skull that we can't line up and have the entire world know we're going to run between the tackles -- no matter who the opponent is. We have a coach who is completely delusional and it's proven to be a disaster. We have yet ANOTHER coach holding us back on gameday.

This is my proglem with Richt. He has shown he can adjust and be forward thinking, ND and VT, and some of his Njoku stuff. I know Brevin is playing well but the lack of TE depth (along with shotty Oline) play is also hindering this team. Our TE's are playing too much and too much is being expected of them. So many things going wrong with the O, we could go on all day.

He is absolutely capable of correcting the situation.

Problem is he isn’t recognizing the issues fast enough, or is unwilling at this point to make the change.

I guess the question is why did it take him 4 games to figure out the obvious? I could have figured it out in one practice. It's not that he doesn't adjust, he can. It just that he waits way too long to make the move when it is obvious to most reasonable people that what he is doing is not working.

The problem most have is adjustments should be drive to drive not month to month. I am a huge Richt supporter. He has done tremendous things and turned the program quite a bit. 24-9 in 2 plus seasons is far better than the previous 3 coaches. BUT..... He needs to make moves on the fly not during the week.

Funny how Richt pushed out Kaaya and Kaaya made his sh*t stain offense look somewhat competent with a worse OL.

Also, you just know Richt isn't going to win big here because of the simple fact he wait MONTHS to address problems, big problems to. How does Richt watch our punting and special teams last year and not say "hey, we should get a PWO punter to backup Feagles in case he's on that same BS." How does he not go after a senior QB transfer when he was stuck with Malik and Sheriffs as his only real options at QB back in '17?

He either just lacks the awareness of his team or he knows the weakness but is doing his usually doing the "have faith" tactics that isn't going to work. God don't give a sh*t about your football problems when your making 4 Million a year... solve it on your own.

What the problem is is we have yet another coach **** bent on forcing a system down our throats instead of adjusting to the team he has. It's absolutely Golden all over again. Miserable.

Agree but we already know the answer to that, he’s stubborn to a fault! Smh

Rosiers running and Braxton Berrios had a lot to do with it

Once teams realized Rosier was MUCH more dangerous with his legs we weren’t really left with much
