One area of major improvement for TVD

He is shredding pressure. Pittsburgh sent several blitzes his way and he threw right at them. Against UNC and UVA, he was 3-13 for ten yards and a pick under pressure. The past two games, he is 10-16 for 164 yards with three TDs.

TVD is excellent in his preparation and now he has experience. Couple that with the physical tools, and we are seeing rapid progress.

Quite frankly my next level of concern for him will be how he handles the waves of hype that the media will soon start dumping on him. His rise seems meteoric from a guy who looked lost in mop up time to a guy who is in total command of the offense and team. If that trajectory continues, I expect to start hearing his name be on the early 2022 hypesman trophy watch list. The off-field growth issues are tougher to gage than the on-field.

Going to be interesting to see how he and Lashlee perform against increased zone coverages. If that's what we see, I hope we see more of Brinson and Restrepo, too.

The only obvious mistake I can see is that he rolls right and goes back every time there is pressure whereas if he could move up in the pocket he had a better chance for a completion or to at least throw the ball away. This was the case even when there was no pressure up the middle.

I think he’s going to benefit tremendously from these experiences he’s already been put in.

You can’t start a career more in a pressure cooker than he has. All 4 games (I don’t count the high school scrimmage), he has had the ball in his hands in a one score game with under 5 minutes. 4 weeks in a row, it’s been him to go win a game or him to ice a game. And he’s gone 2/4. That kind of experience is invaluable.
 
He’s almost too good at standing in and taking shots or adjusting arm angles to get throws off. It actually limits his effectiveness in the rb screen game because he gets the ball off too fast and doesn’t allow the rush to get upfield… a very first world problem, he’s a dude

For sure. I just think he can be better than Kaaya if he's not already. The last 2 games he certainly is playing as good or better than Kaaya ever did.

TVD just has everything that Brad never had.. that extra tick of arm strength, the ability to move in the pocket, and the ability to keep it and do something with his legs.

If TVD doesn't hit the proverbial wall that Kaaya did.. he'll play like this (of course the numbers aren't sustainable week in and week out) for a full season next year. His next step is making adjustments at the LOS and getting out of plays like the one in the end zone that was almost a safety when we ran right into a blitz that he saw pre-snap. Hope Lashlee gives him that authority too.

Kid appears to have a Sam Darnold type personality when he was at USC. Feels like he doesn't care about anything except playing football

Nice to come down to earth a bit with the Kaaya comparison. But you're right, totally different players. Kaaya at his best was a game manager. TVD has a natural big play ability along with what looks to be good work ethic and excellent poise. This one feels different.

I don't have the numbers, but from basic game watch, it appears he's done really well against Man. I think one of the bigger complaints against Lashlee's passing offense has been the route trees. To be effective against zone, TVD will need to scan more, our route combinations would need to be solid, and WRs will need to play smart, physical football. See the potential issues? Ha. I have no idea how it'll turn out, but it's an increased obstacle. Kaaya, for example, ran into trouble at first against zones.
