you will understand how inept the BOT and current AD are.

Manny Diaz makes 3.1 mil (source https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/barry-jackson/article223987630.html)

Mario Cristobal makes 2.6 mil (source https://www.nbcsports.com/northwest...-major-bonus-oregon-2018-19-salaries-released)

Once you understand that Manny Diaz made Dan Enos the highest paid offensive coordinator in the county @ 1.5 mil, you will understand that no administration has done less with more than Miami (according to the article below, Pep Hamilton would have been #2 @ 1.46 mil)

I know this horse has been beaten to death; however, we have no shot under this current admin. Do yourself a favor and stop paying attention until Blake James and David Epstein are gone.

This program has so much going for it and so much consistently working against it.

UM has the money to get top 25 coaching but evaluates coaches poorly. Coaches consistently get top 25 recruiting classes at Miami with a handful of guys every year ending up playing in the NFL.

Miami has access to the top football talent every year right outside their door, can fall into a top 25 recruiting class, can pay for good coaches (if they want to), and still can’t consistently be successful. There is a culture of failure, quitting, (leave early, quit on a season or play) and incompetence that is rooted firmly in the football program today and likely extends higher. This program wishes it were Wisconsin today.

Miami needs a competent AD who knows something about creating a successful athletics program and more specifically a successful football program. They also need a chief of staff with experience and connections to be a strong voice on who to hire, fire, and recruit.

Mario and some more money wouldn’t fix this program.

If Miami ever hired Mario at in any point in the last 5 years this board would have had a complete melt down. And when I say meltdown I mean we would have lost 25% of the members to suicide.

This is irrelevant to the outcome. It would have been a shock to the fans who will endure it for a year until the results on the field start show. I would have been against it. But if Mario NOW much better than when he was at FIU then fans will change their opinion after they see the results and they will come back from the edge of the cliff.
Mind you Mario is a different coach now after the journey he had and being a HC of a major football program. He may not be a great coach still but definitely has more creed than someone like Mandy who had zero HC experience

Thank you, we need a total shake up new leadership on BOT/ new president one who "gets" value of top notch athletic teams
namely football & B-Ball. Also entire leadership in AD dept must go Blake and Strawely are awful send them to Minnesota -Duluth
football team need investments in support staff and someone on staff to evaluate talent and focus on player development .
i do not think we have seen the bottom with this inept group yet sad to say
you need to create a culture of tough minded winners rather than the group of softies we presently have on roster.

Let’s assume a 50% buyout for termination not for cause. If we fire manny after next year 9.6 mill left on his deal. So we will owe 4.8 mil. I’d guess this the floor and the buyout for termination is higher.

We also have to deal with an Enos buyout and a buyout of what ever fool take that job next.

If manny wins 8 games next year there is no way this admin fired him and shells out the cash. I’d bet they do nothing if he wins 7.

You have to be a real incompetent to not win 8 with the trash schedule we have. Now we know manure fits that bill but I think he could win 8 and our mediocrity could drag on for years. We need to pray he blows the OC hire again.

I know this is a message board so it's by definition 50% moron and 25% trolls, but a few points of reason:

1. Mario sucked at FIU.
2. Manny was considered a great DC, knows the area intimately and with his personality can be a great face of the program.
3. Manny has had one year. Firing a coach in or after his second year is normally insane, firing one after his first year is a clown show.
4. The talent level is not what we think it is. Horrible OL and horrible QB.
5. That said, inexcusable obviously to lose to GT, FIU and LT. The players quit on each other and on Manny and that's extremely troubling.
6. But in his years of being a DC, he had no problem motivating players and was considered a player's coach.
7. The one clear disaster was Enos. They quickly moved on.
8. If we are having this conversation next year then all things are on the table.
9. Blaming the AD is dumb.
10. The culture has been the problem for 15 years. Blaming Manny is naive.

Not blaming the culture problem on Manny is naive.

1. Mario, who may or may not be a good coach, is light years better than Manny. Manny should not be a college football head coach.
2. Manny is one of the worst coaches in the Power 5 and is outsmarted and outcoached in every game.
3. Manny has been with the team for 4 years. He will cause irreparable damage to the team with another year. There is no evidence that he can fix the mess that he was responsible for. The team was worse at the end of the year and it was not even close,
4. Manny's Cane's lost to FIU. Manny's Canes lost to LT. How the FK do you get shut out by Louisiana Tech?
5. Not to mention the losses to Georgia Tech, NC, 4th and 17...
6. The fact that the players "quit on each other and on Manny" is just another indictment of Diaz. He is not respected because he does not know what he is doing.
7. The one clear disaster is Manny. Enos did suck, but he is a convenient scapegoat. By the way, who hired Enos?
8. If we are having this conversation next year, the team is foolish. The Canes used to be a middling ACC team. Manny's Canes, with embarassing losses to FIU and Louisiana Tech, are now a below average FCS team. Well done! What depths will the team sink to with another year? With Diaz, the team can lose to anybody.
9. The AD hired Manny after a few hours of a lazy search. The AD hired an inept coach with the potential to kill the program. Ignoring that is dumb.
10. Manny is part of the culture that is the problem.

Still holding on to my pipe dream that big news will be announced after the bowl game. Still hoping Zo and Mario a package deal.

I too hope the offseason meant something other than entering the spring with something other than Manny Co. + New OC, but historically when the only people smelling smoke is us, that's usually a really bad sign.

I dont think mario is some top tier coach but we royally screwed up hiring manny instead of him.
Agreed I am not sitting here thinking Mario is Saban reborn. Gets Manny out the door and he is definately better than Manny. Also if Mario was hired it would be a clear indication that Blake's AD powers related to football had been curtailed.

The AD made the hire with no search. Manny hired a guy who did not run the offense he promised and that OC was permitted to continue running that system til the day he was clipped.

Statistically speaking, which one are you? Moron or troll? (Not sure why you'd come in and start by belittling everyone you're looking to chat with)

The gist of your list is that Manny will improve but Mario will not. Sorry, not buying that. Resume versus resume, if you chose Manny you'd likely have to answer to someone.....unless you work for the worst AD in the game.
