On3 reporting

It makes sense. We've come up with a million ****** reasons as to why the BOT/Julio hasn't fired Manny yet. If we wanted Manny out, he would have already been out. We just don't have the support internally to pull this off. We're a C-rated program. Accept it.
I don’t usually agree with OriginalOriginalCane, but this is the echo chamber he’s talking about. Nothing has happened and you have it convinced in your mind it already has.

It’s clear what they are doing.

Leaking that Diaz is coming back takes the pressure off Mario. He doesn’t have to answer questions about UM before Friday’s game, and Oregon doesn’t have as much time to prepare a counter offer.

This is all calculated, and I actually appreciate how we’re handling it.

What remains aggravating to me is the lack of an AD announcement.

Manny is returning
A “good chance” doesn’t mean returning. Words matter.

All this tells us is that the Diaz PR machine remains in spin city mode.

New AD in next day, or so—and if it’s Torretta or Highsmith—zero chance Manny is retained.

Have y’all not learned anything from these “ media reports “? The season ends Friday for Oregon, lets suck it up for a little bit longer before having coronaries.

You’re right. Maybe I overreacted. But this guy is pretty good and when he reports something, he’s usually spot on. Not a good sign.

I’m going to chill on this for the time being. My mind cannot fathom that Julio Frenk, with all his worrying about public perception, would commit public perception suicide in bringing Manny back. I’m well aware this is UM and it would just be par the course to do it but I CANNOT allow myself to think he could possibly be that tone deaf.

I'm certainly not happy that Epstein is doing everything he can to make my alma mater look stupid just to feed his ego.
Is that really the motivation? I keep asking not because I don’t believe you and other posters, but because putting your name on a bad coach seems like a really stupid thing to do. yes you will exert controls and brag to the 5 people who like you. But those very people will dislike you in a year if Manny stays and UM sucks again, which is the most likely outcome if Manny stays.

Consider this alternative. Epstein actually thinks Manny will be successful if given another year and is motivated by this opinion. Stupid, yes.

this is flawed logic....because if you want him recruiting you need to say he isn't get fired. the way they have left things nobody would believe he is staying.
I think Manny believes he has a shot to stay and is giving his backers all the support he can by still trying.
FYI, he doesn’t seem to be having a lot of success recruiting.

They might as well move the games to a HS stadium cause they won’t draw air if he’s back..

I'm suspect you're probably correct. I mean, there's no real possibility that he's sabotaging this entire thing for no reason. It's just so **** frustrating that a successful guy like him can't see what's so obvious.
