Florida Game is Over guys time to focus on UNC!

All these Florida threads making my head hurt it’s over we took a L let’s get focused on the next opponent.

We will see how UNC plays this week.

What do we know about Mack Brown coached teams?

What about Mack Brown?
He’s won a national championship and has won the Big 12 south division 6 times. He will definitely try to outcoach Diaz, the rookie HC, in this game.

What’s his coaching staff like?
Offense:
QB/OC Phil Longo Air Raid Only been coaching at the FBS level since 2017. Prior to that He had recording breaking QB play and offenses at every single place he has been. Spent his first FBS seasons at Ole Miss where he produced two top 10 offenses in both seasons across various categories. ( Coached Shea Patterson and Jordan Ta’Amu)

TE: Tim Brewster (Coached Algee Crumpler, Bo Scaife, Antonio Gates, Tony Scheffler, Nick O’Leary, Jace Sterberger)

WR: Lonnie Galloway (Great Resume lots of receivers that he’s produced from Tavon Austin, Kevin White, Mario Alford, Jaylen Smith)

RB: Robert Gillipsie (Sent 10 Running Backs to the NFL)

OL: Stacy Searles (we know the deal here)

Defensive Coaches:
ILB/ Co DC: Tommy Thigpen (Coached: Kelvin Hayden, Tommy Richardson, Durell Mapp, Bruce Carter, Quan Sturdivant, Marc Paschall, Josh Bynes, Craig Stevens, Darren Bates, Neiko Thorpe, AJ Johnson, Jaleen Reeves-Maybin, Daniel Bituli, Quart’e Sapp, Cole Holcrumb)

OLB/ST Scott Boone: experience low but produced some decent LBs at Arizona

CB: Dre Bly: First Coaching Gig. Was an all-pro corner. Could end up like a Mike Rumph of UNC.

S/ Co-DC Jay Bateman: First Power 5 coaching job. But had been coaching for 22 years at smaller schools.

Thoughts on coaching staff.
I think Mack Brown had a healthy dose of veteran coaches and new coaches on his team. A lot of these guys have developed a great deal of talent over the years. Mack Browns record alone at Texas was great and his last few seasons can’t take away from this guys accomplishments. His winning percentage was over .8 after seasons at Texas.

I think he may turn UNC into a regular 8-9 win team who can pull upsets and the occasional 10 win season here and there but they won’t recruit the guys necessary to make UNC nationally relevant.

UNC Roster Thoughts

QB

No idea how Sam Howell will look. I’ll be watching that South Carolina Game closely.

RB
Michael Carter was gashing us last year for some runs. Antonio Williams as well. They’ve good two good ones here.

WR:
I don’t recall these guys making any plays last year.

OL: Was horrendous and probably UNC biggest weakness.

Entire Defense against us last season was garbage.

Game thoughts new year new teams for both squads. I don’t think Mack Browns unit has the players to hang with us just yet. However those RBs were extremely athletic

Miami forced 6-7 turnovers and scored on 3 of them. It’s hard to repeat that effort. I don’t think UNC could be worse but I’ll go with a 35-20 type of win if UNC keeps the turnovers down and settles for field goals. They were driving on our defense, which as of now was better last season. Turnovers did them in and killed momentum.

But give me 35-20 Miami for this game. Also we had defenders bouncing off of their players last year. After the Florida game they may get lucky that way again this year and probably get a easy score or two like the Toney score. But the defense holds them up the rest of the game.

This is a very very bad UNC team. Let's hope we play like we're supposed to and crush these guys.

He's gonna make them into Miami? Sure sure, downvote me, but you know that shts true.

And I think them running on us was less about their talent than that confusing *** formation they kept using. D got it under control in the second half.

I will be surprised and disappointed if we give up 20 to Carolina.

I expect to see many sacks by our D, and our offense should be ready for a much better performance in a quieter building with two weeks to absorb what they learned from UF and prepare for UNC.

Can't wait.

I will be kind of mad if they score 20.

I will too but IF they drive like they were last year before the turnovers they scoring 20 with no problems.

Two gimmick scores and two field goals is 20.

I’d like to see them not score over 10 but while we are still getting the defense figured out and our ability to occasionally allow big gashes I could see 20 for at least this game.

I think Their run game will be a non-factor. I like Phil Longo but they shouldn’t score more than 21

I’m not that impressed with their defensive staff but in this game I’m not sure how much it will matter with the two tackles we’re trotting out there. We will struggle to score points again.

I’ll be happy with a W. Don’t even care if it’s close. 24-17 or whatever.

I would say Miami easy win, but..........it's in Chapel Hill. When's the last time we kicked the powder blue's a$$ in that stadium? I can't remember that ever happening. Plus, win or lose up there, the refs always try to work us over.

Thanks OP, I'm anxious to see how they do against USCe. Regardless, this will be another tough test for our young team. We need to do a lot of improving before I'm willing to pencil in automatic W's against anyone.
