I sat in Hard Rock stadium until the final whistle blew in the FSU game last year. By the time the game ended, I was one of maybe 500 Canes fans in the stadium. I was completely surrounded by FSU fans who made their way down from the cheap seats into my section.

At the time I felt like Mario needed a year or two to turn things around. Now I realize that Mario is actually the Scarecrow from The Wizard of Oz.

I raised my son in the Bay Area. Back when he was in middle school, all of the kids were becoming USC fans (during Pete Carroll's run). I told him that the Canes would win a national title before he graduated high school. Like six years later, as we were doing prep work for his graduation in 2013 (during the al golden era), he randomly said to me, "Dad remember when you told me that the Canes would win a national title before I graduated high school?"

That was a parental gut punch that I wouldn't wish on anyone, EVER! lol
