I can honestly say I’ve never met a Texas Tech fan in my life. I’ve, maybe, watched 1-2 games involved TT in the last 20 years. For anyone on here, have you ever interacted with their fans? I say this because looking at social media and their boards, I’ve never seen a more delusional and out of their depth fan base ever (and that’s saying something with the losers up in Tallahassee and Gainesville).

These people genuinely think the reaction to the Sorsby situation is because other P4 schools are afraid of the rise of Texas Tech and the sleeping giant that it is (this is literally what 95% of their fans believe). TT as a program has been a 100 year mediocrity. No Nattys. Barely .500 all time. Their greatest achievements are a 23-0 CFP loss to Oregon, and a Michael Crabtree catch from almost 20 years ago. Before the ‘25 season they’d been a perennial 8-win team.

I understand CFB fans are homers, but have any of you interacted with these fans and are they as genuinely delusional as they seem?

I dated a Texas Tech fan. Her name was Lauren Latimer. She was a dental hygienist from Lubbock and graduated from Tech. Met her when I moved to Dallas in 2007 at First Baptist Dallas. Our first date was opening week when Tech came to Dallas and played SMU and blew them out. I got her tickets.

To follow up. I spent Christmas that year with her at her parents house in Lubbock, and yes, it was a horrible time. Her mother was controlling and her father was a simp. The only normal person was her grandfather and that’s because he was 82 and had onset dementia.
 
Anyways, would be kinda weird to not delusional living in Lubbock. Isn’t it like 10 hours from any other city?
 
We have friends who are alums and living in Houston I interact with a few Tech alums. Good people who enjoy their team and they are not used to sports success. They all travelled for the orange bowl and the last two women’s World Series. No complaints.

Not even close

2 hours to Amarillo, Midland and Odessa
4-4.5 hours to Fort Worth and Dallas
5 hours to Albuquerque and El Paso
6 hours to Santa Fe, Austin and San Antonio

Same here. Former coworker was a TT alum and an overall nice guy. He was just appreciating the success, especially since they didn’t have much of it when he was a student.

Online fans and in-person fans are different breeds.

Normal, like 20 years after dating a woman, sharing her full name, job title, and location where you met on a Canes fan forum. Yeah, her parents were totally whack I'm sure. :cool:

I’ve said I’m a TT fan
My son is going to be a senior
To be honest Lubbock has some of the nicest people you could ever meet
I go there three or four times a year and that city lives and breathes TT

I am not tuned into their commentary on this and most aren’t delusional they are thrilled they have the money to compete at national level and have a recognized brand
