On Manny's last day, let me say thank you

Dear Manny

For some bizarre reason, there are some fans who act like you put a gun to the head of the powers that be and forced them to hire you then you intentionally lost games on purpose to harm the program. Many of us, myself included, do not feel that way. I saw your passion and "want to win" and you even made tough decisions to try and make that happen. Unfortunately it just didn't work out however I would like to thank you for some of the positives you brought to the program.

1. In 2017 as DC, your defense was the talk of college football and it was because of that defense the Miami Hurricanes were ranked as high as #2, some actually said there was a case for us at #1 at the time. Also, love it or hate it, the turnover chain was without a doubt a top topic in college football and for a brief moment brought back the much missed "swag" that was lacking for a long time.

2. You did have to make some tough moves all with the intention of helping the program. Mark Enos did not turn out as well as hoped so you fired him and brought in an OC that provided the best offense we seen in 20 years. Blake Baker, a friend was not cutting it as DC and you had to let him go. Unfortunately the move of not hiring a DC to replace him may be why you will no longer be coaching here however you took a chance and it did not work. The point is you always did what you thought was best for the program.

3. The king of the transfer portal...you talked great players like Jalen Phillips, Quincy Roche, Charleston Rambo, D'eriq King and Tyriqe Stevenson to join the Miami Hurricane family. That alone was worth your time here.

4. Had it not been for a terrible first quarter and a converted 4th and 14 you beat FSU every year you were HC. Again, that last FSU game may have been the nail in the coffin however the team showed great fight and never gave up in the game, even dominating the game after a 17-0 deficit.

As I said before, unfortunately it did not work out but I am not interested in stomping on your grave. You did good things here and I wish you nothing but the very best.
Dang you never give up do you Mr. Epstein. Smh Is there anyway you can kick rocks now and stop posting here? You and your cronie senior lost and y'all's boy manure is rightfully gone now as he never should have been here as HC in the first place. No one wants you on the BOT anymore, better yet after all the shenanigans you’ve tried to pull lately, I’d wager to guess no one wants you in the south Florida anymore sporto! Lol

LOL... if you haven't figured out that this place is littered with douche bag fans you dont spend much time on here. If you havent figured out that Miami has some of the worst fans this side of Philly you havent been a Miami fan long.

Assuming Manny has coached his last game, his career Miami win % stands at .583. Just ahead of Al Golden (.561) and Randy Shannon (.560) and behind Mark Richt (.667)

This is how bad Miami football has been the last 15 years.

You can just look at the people who liked this comment to see the true slurpers are still out and about.

For instance, may I present to you Mr. Manny Sr. Himself, one that has always had Manure’s back when he drops ***** from his mouth and eyes, @Echtcane!
Be careful, he may downvote you....

😂😂😂😂

Everytime @Echtcane sees someone talking bad about his Manny

Manny, like Coker, Shannon, was sprung into something he wasn't ready or qualified for. Unfortunately he met the same fate. That's what happens when you don't do your due diligence and hire the easy 24 hour search guy. Not all his fault but he had his opportunity to right this defense this year, he does he is still here. ****, he puts out a halfway better D and we're ACC champions.

honestly I hope mario is as ballsy as Manny. Manny made the moves necessary, just didn't fall the right way and for some reason his defensive playcalling changed dramatically from his stint as DC to his stint as HC

I spend enough time here to absolutely know there are some douche bag fans..thats exactly why I started the post the way I did....i do not care what dudes who are angry at everything life serves them thinks...like at all....anyway, thanks Manny for your time here....I appreciate some of the things you did. Now bring on Mario!!

I kept my mouth shut for some of you who haven’t been here for the early years . So let me inform you of our history of great coaching that left the U . Snell up and left us after saying he was not going anywhere to the USFL. Jimmy did the same moving up to Dallas. Erickson , well everyone wanted his shxt show to leave. Then Butch after moments before saying I’m staying leaves just like that and fans were flying banners and in call in shows letting everyone know he was the worse game day coach. Now all of these are your Gods of our great run. Well if you lived through them you do know there was turmoil during those years too. Manny has been a Cane , and yes I have my deep problems with him. On the offensive side , why didn’t he after a couple of games say we are under center from the 3 with first and goal with fullback in too. Never did it and we could probably won a game or two by changing that alone. Have no idea why defensive team turned out so bad compared to other years. Maybe you guys are right that he played some late in the season. But what I do know is no matter what he still was a Cane Coach and like players even though we are paying him, he chose to coach at a place I love and will not kick him for that. You can if you feel better but it doesn’t change he did bleed Orange and green even though we needed a better coach.

This is right. I respect Manny. (1) He instituted a pretty good culture. Kids never fled in mass into the portal and played hard every game, etc. and (2) he was one of the least stubborn coaches ever here. He tried his hardest to address weaknesses. Cheers to hoping Mario will have both of those qualities.

I don't wanna kick a dog now that he's down. Good luck Manny.

Now fire away I’m use to it Canestime/ Grassy taught me to take it… but after 60 plus years of going to games old geezers have thick skin… Go Canes

Mike you are correct, but he did choose to coach the U and as fans we support our program and those that have tried to make us great… some have success and many don’t. So I’m not throwing stones.

Manny did his best, he just wasn't up to the job. His defensive scheme got figured out, he made some horrific personnel decisions, and he had to undo a lot of systemic rot he allowed to fester by going with the "buddy" approach to coaching that seriously hurt his ability to have accountability within the program. To his credit he brought in a lot of offensive talent, upgraded the assistants, and brought some life and energy back this season. But it was too little too late and time to make a change. I wish him luck and glad we've stepped it up and thrown in with the big boys.
