I like Thornton but he’s not twitchy enough to be a true nickel and doesn’t seem to have natural instincts for man coverage. I think a box safety role is his best position.

Yall gotta understand hes not here to be a lockdown cover nickel like Scott was. He probably has more on his plate because of our injuries.

When we get X and Jaboree back, Bryce and JJ can switch between safety and passing down nickel. Thornton can then be used primarily as an enforcer in the box and on blitz's. We will have much more versatility, and I would bet he will look like a strength of this defense when not asked to do as much.

Just looks like someone they took hoping to develop him to become Keionte-lite. I remember being surprised when it was mentioned that he was playing nickel in spring. ..."he's running stride for stride with Malachi in practice".
The guy is exactly what we saw on film from BC. BOX SAFETY.

*he can blitz, it's just Scott's timing and disguise were just so **** exquisite.
