Firing Blake James three weeks ago isn't the issue and not having names lined up isn't the issue. AD searches take time. Not taking into account BOT members being so willing to make the University they allegedly love look like a disaster is something I guess you can blame people for.
 
Sigh. People need to remember that you are talking about older people in the ruling class for much of their lives being circumvented or neutered altogether. You expect them to do anything other than throw a tantrum? Change is messy

It will satiate me. We disagree on the effectiveness of releasing a statement. I think providing some generalities about the basic process will effectively prevent more rumors from popping up. It'll provide, at the very least, some temporary relief, which is all we may need.
 
Manny gone regardless. You don't salvage a recruiting class, etc. with 1 year left on the contract and all this bad publicity.

What he can do though, is use all this sabotage to his advantage in his next job interview.

If this is all a misinformation campaign somebody needs to be purged the f*** out. How anyone can anyone sit on the board of a school and falsely project an image that the school is a mess. What in the living f*** is that person still doing connected to the school? This could go beyond sports and bleed into academics.

There aren't 60 BOT members who care about UM sports enough to be involved in the AD search which instantly makes this BS

You’re conflating process with PR branding.

The process could be going well or really poorly. Either which way, you manage PR around the process and call the waters. There is no disadvantage or problem with UM countering the last 48 hours news narrative of distinction by putting out statement on the process that show these stories are off base but don’t reveal substance. Ie, describe who is responsible for screening and reporting out candidates. This in and of itself mitigates stories about 50 board members interviewing candidates.

UM could be doing everything right and still lose out do to the bad PR.
