I've literally been saying this all along, yet some people think this ****show of a University are executing some grand chess move. If Manny was definitely getting fired, we would have fired him. Instead, we currently don't have the political/financial support to get rid of him, and the only way the anti-Manny faction will nudge the pro-Manny faction from their position is by landing a big fish. They're not gonna move to the fire-Manny camp for a mere coordinator or non-P5 hire. This perfectly explains why we haven't fired him.
