OL Recruiting ?

Tbh, we maybe take 1 OL this cycle and the only prospect I think we're realistically trying to land is OL Lucas Niang. The problem with our O-line isn't numbers/bodies but quality. Unlike other positions, we can afford having no OL in this class. I'm sure the thinking of the new staff is something like this, "why waste a scholly on a kid we might not have taken/offered if we had a full year to recruit?" They'll focus their efforts on OL next year.

I agree with the above post. We are kind of in a bind at OL with 14-15 returning scholarship OL. We took 6 last year.

But at the same time, I think people are fretting about this for nothing. Yes, the OL struggled last year, but starting 3 sophomores was the problem. They were not physically ready for the trenches. 3 juniors sounds a lot better and it will look better. There's talent there, it's just lacking coaching, which we will see improvements with Searels. It lacked physical development, which will improve with new S&C and an extra 9 months to prepare. It will be better next year I'm 100%sure on that.

Darling will be a serviceable LT, but if someone were to beat him out and he could kick back to RT, that would be ideal. But I'm not worried either way

1-2 OL in this class.

The position sucks in Florida and we have a ton of them on the roster, even though the quality might not be there.

Coaching and strength program change will help this position a ton.

Who are our important OL recruits this year?

2017 is the year of the OL in SFL so imo we're taking maybe 1 for depth unless we can somehow flip studs then i could see them taking 2. I think there is a possibility we don't take any though just because we're there's not too many solid targets left.
