A native of Putnam High School, Dean originally committed to FIU over offers from Florida Gulf Coast, Jacksonville, Mercer, and Stetson.

During his time at FIU, Dean averaged 11.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game as a freshman. He improved those numbers in his sophomore season, averaging 13.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.1 assists. After the 2023-24 season, Dean entered the transfer portal as a four-star transfer prospect before committing to Oklahoma State.
Dean is a Miami native, out of South Dade. Played his 4 years of HS ball at South Miami High and Calusa, before playing his prep year (5th year) up in Connecticut at Putnam. Kid had a stellar HS career down here. I want to say he was named Miami-Dade POY his senior year while at Calusa. Only thing that kept him from being a high major prospect coming out of high school was his size. He's the epitome of a dawg on the basketball court. Also, gave UM fits a couple of years ago while at FIU. Almost, single-handedly beat us in that game.

Said this in the other thread but I wouldn’t mind this addition at all. Defense first guard who can provide a spark off the bench. You can never have too much guard depth. Would also give us some added experience, our bench is very young.
