Ohio States Remaining Schedule

Indiana is elite obviously.

USC is a top-25 team, but Ohio St should handle them.

Oregon is lucky not to be 0-2 and Michigan "lost" to a MAC team, so those are wins.

They'll go 10-2, and get blasted again by Indiana in the Big 10 title game
USC is very good. Riley also is in a spot where its basically playoffs or bust. He needs it. I wouldn't be surprised to see the upset at all.

Honestly most times he stops himself. His career has been a ton of stat padding against weak teams and no shows in the 4th quarter

One of the announcers during the game pointed out that Miami and Indiana did a good job containing him last year. He's gonna get his obviously and he's a great talent no doubt but he's not this unstoppable force. That Indiana game should be interesting.

That's not fair he made big plays in their first title run as a frosh and was also their only bright spot in the playoff last year.

Last night though he did let that game slip through his fingers

Committee will say its a quality loss. It was the worst case scenario for everyone not playing that game last night. That's just reality.
Tbf, it was a quality loss. One point on the road early enough in the year. i get your point tho as 9-3 Alabama in 2024 didn’t have any losses as good as this and they were ahead of us @ 10-2.

Still, the enjoyment stems from the fact that Ryan Day could be looking at his first three loss season, the first three loss season since Luke Fickell was the interim HC, in 2011, and went 6-7 (w/ a loss to Miami that year 😁); prior to that was 2008 w/ a fiesta bowl loss to Texas; they went 10-3.

The last time a non-interim Ohio State head coach lost three regular season games was Jim Tressell in 2004 (7-4, won his bowl game to go 8-4); which, was prior to the regular season expansion of 11 to 12 games.

Too early to know how punitive the loss will be. We’re two weeks in and the top two preseason teams in the country, both from the B1G, are 1-1. LSU went from having no first place votes to having 5; and their struggles against LA Tech — and Clemson’s struggles against GA Southern — will stop them from leapfrogging us.

Today will be interesting to see how the AP & coaches’ polls rank these seven schools: Tulsa, W. Michigan, Michigan, Oklahoma, Boise State, Oklahoma State, and Oregon. But by the time the first playoff poll is released, how these schools are ranked against each other will largely be irrelevant.

I don't beleive in quality losses. They will rank this loss over others wins. The committee does whatever they want.

I was watching this game very closely. All pre season I was imagining a scenario where an OSU loss could lead to Taints season unraveling. This is the first year in a while where their schedule is not a joke.

The end of their season includes:

@ Indiana
@ USC
Oregon at home
Michigan at home

If they lose to Indiana, and are a two loss team going into that final stretch, it is very possible they drop one of those last 3 games.

That would mean NO conference championship, and NO PLAYOFFS.

I used to pray for times like these

They’ll get the “they’ve been good historically”
nod and still get in. Don’t kid yourself.

#ScheduleIsHardBro

They’re already making excuses for Oregon on ESPN

Exactly. The concept of a quality loss only applies to the Big 10, ND, and the SEC as far as the committee is concerned.

Lets hypothetically say our only loss is to ND. They would say we lost to ND and be harshly penalized for it.

Yet, when NDs only loss will be to UM, they will count that as a quality loss and wouldnt penalize them for it.

I don’t believe in quality losses mattering over best wins, but if teams have the same record and similar wins, the next determinant has to be how you lost and to who, i.e. quality lol, that’s why Ohio State was ranked above Oregon last year; or Ole Miss above A&M.

Committee was trash in 2024 by putting Alabama above Miami but thankfully SMU losing in the ACC-CCG prevented Alabama from making it. Committee got the 11 outta 12 right in 2025 (ND should’ve been in over Alabama) and virtually were right with nearly every selection for a dozen years before that when it was only four teams.

If OSU loses to Oregon and Iowa, they’re not getting in. If OSU loses to USC and Indiana, they might get in. TBD.

Those first 2 turnovers by Texas really made OSU look better than they played. A fumble in the first 30 sec to set up a FG. And that INT was a gift after the DB got beat badly, the play before he also got run over. They had 19 first downs and under 100 yards rushing. Their offense is just Smith, Innis had 1 rec and their second leading receiver was Jackson the RB with 4.

With 3 losses I wouldn't be shocked if the committee squeezes them in anyways. But I see an L to Indy and someone else.

why is Indiana elite? Who have they played to show that? They cancelled any "real" game on their schedule for the next few years to pick up games with teams like Howard. I don't think anyone can say WHAT Indiana is yet

I think this is the most realistic scenario

The word elite has lost its meaning. People toss it around like good and great don't exist. Elite teams QB1 don't have a completion ratio of 54% vs Howard.

Ohio State is very suspect. They had 10 points handed to them to start the game. No matter how badly Texas played for 3 qtrs, OSU couldn't slam the door on them, and once Texas cut their mistakes out, they just slid right past them. Texas played 3 qtrs like they had the weight of the world on their shoulders playing tight, and once they got past that it was lights out. This game could've really been ugly for OSU who is now 0-3 vs ranked teams since the B10 title game.

What they need to do is get rid of the preseason polls, or at least shift to a metric that evaluates wins and losses in real time. There’s no reason a team should get credit for a “Top 25 win” in Week 2 if the team they beat ends up unranked by the end of the season.

CBB does a much better job of this with Q1, Q2, Q3, etc.
