So, the QB battle isn't settled? Interesting...

Even coach Richt said something like they have to continue battling hard in practice cause it is an ongoing competition. (I am paraphrasing.)
So you never know.

evaluation is ongoing. thought I recall Richt saying he would not hesitate to put another guy in if he needed to. It is also the message he is sending to the other qbs to be ready because due to injury or whatever you never know when your time will come.

I think this weekend is a big test for the QBs, even if it's not being discussed as one. Perry has a chance to show his skills. Shirreffs has a chance to see the field and do something. Rosier has a chance to tighten his grip on the job. It's a big game for all our QBs.
keep it up brother! We need Rosier to not play stupid and injury free at a few key spots, if so, we going a long way. I disagree on the fsu thing. We have the talent especially this early and they will be coming off the game with bama. I like our chance, better than any time in the past 10 years.
David Pollack is that dude
I was listening to 560 AM yesterday and one of the hosts (I think he was a sub for Joe Rose) was laughing at the Canes chances of beating FSU this year, basically saying that FSU is vastly more talented than Miami so we have no hope at Doak. Interesting comments from the official radio station of the Miami Hurricanes.
Vastly more talented? That's why it took the help of the referees and a botched extra point to beat us last year?
And why does it seem like all the sports commentators who are supposedly experts on college football just regurgitate each other's words? They keep saying, "Oh Miami is going to have a big dropoff since Kaaya left," yet not a single one has made the observation that maybe a more mobile QB is a better fit for Richt's offense. We need a new radio station.
I was going to make a thread about this... I was looking through the numbers in my offseason boredom and here's what I found regarding Bard's performance last year:
(1) He wasn't that good (we all knew that)
My favorite metric for looking at QB play is ESPN's QB rating. The rating incorporates a variety of situations and looks beyond just passing efficiency. He ranked 40th overall in Total QBR. If you just look at passing efficiency, he ranks around 20, give or take a few spots, but that doesn't account for the fact that he was a statue who wasn't very clutch, which ESPN's metric takes into account. For the sake of comparison, Stephen Morris ranked 36th his final year here. Bard was merely average.
(2) He was particularly bad in our losses (we knew that too)
If you average Bard's QBR in our losses (FSU, UNC, VT, ND- 56.75), his QBR would be good for 71st in the country. That's ****ing terrible. I'm not that high on Rosier, but our QB play really can't get that much worse than what Bard did in some of our losses. He literally couldn't tie his shoes against UNC. That being said, FSU is probably where we'll miss not having Kaaya the most. He was atrocious versus UNC, VT, and ND, but was actually decent versus a very talented FSU D.
