Oh Lawd. Stop The Fight

Buddy of mine who is a college coach told me that UM was the running joke at the coaches' convention a couple weeks ago. "How do you go 6-7 at Miami with all that talent? No coaching changes?"

Joke is even funnier now.

I ain't laughing. Am disgusted.

Crazy thing about this is that under Shannon we had kids like Shields who NFL coaches said kid knew nothing when he left college. Now under Golden our guys look like studs at Senior Bowls but it's still not making a difference on Saturdays when it matters.

That's a huge indictment on both of them. Shannon couldn't teach and Golden has a broken scheme, poor game day coaching and poor game plans.

Shields' limited knowledge of the position might have had something to do with him never playing it until a few days before his final season here. They were giving him as little info as possible so as to not bog him down in overthinking. Pretty sure his position coach at UM was Wes McGriff, who has a pretty good reputation as a DB coach.

The moment when Jon Gruden sees all of our players getting drafted in decent rounds and then leans over to Trey Wingo and goes, "How did Miami lose 4 games last year let alone 7?" is going to get the national ball of criticism rolling.

STOCK UP

Players from Miami

With what the Miami players showed this week, it's almost impossible to figure out how the Hurricanes finished 6-7 this season. Tight end Clive Walford showed better athleticism than expected – especially on a diving catch Wednesday – and should be back in the discussion as being the first tight end drafted. Wide receiver Phillip Dorsett relied on his speed to beat defensive backs, whether he was working the slot or outside. Both of those players could be second-round picks. Linebacker Denzel Perryman looked as expected before he got injured. Cornerback Ladarius Gunter showed flashes. Really, that's all he needed to do. At 6-foot-1 and 203 pounds, a team is going to love Gunter's length and ability to get his hand up and tip away passes.

7 losses.

Yeah but how many of those were night games? You cant expect greatness on a school night

With national championship level talent, does a losing season make this the worst coaching debacle in college football history?

National championship level talent is a reach....but its at the very least ACC coastal championship talent.

how is it a reach? Only FSU and Oregon have more players in the top 100. We have more draftable talent than Bama

Honestly, articles like this **** me off for more than the obvious reasons. Do any of these idiots even watch the games? Cause if they had - they would have Clive first on the TE list to begin with. And no thanks for all these comments coming in the too little + too late category either

Come on guys, you can't expect a team to win their division, let alone a national championship w/ a first year starting qb and your best DE getting kicked off the team and the depth chart is full of fresh out of high school freshmans, and limited playing sophomores.....OH WAIT...OSU just did that. Nevermind.

The deer in headlight look fatty had when asked about his porous defense after nebraska was the telltale sign that this guy cannot coach in the "big league". And I quote that because the ACC coastal is the ****ing WAC of the power 5

This guy is so bad the Ivy League would be a challenge.

Seriously it's worse then it looks.. Of the 6 Wins, 2 were against FAMU, and Arkansas State?

What if those 2 teams were replaced by real opponents? If a team had a Heart Beat and was half way decent, it was 50-50 whether The U could pull out a win.. How this administration can not see what a terrible Coach Al(batross) Golden is mind boggling.. He's not an X,O guy, he's not a teacher, nor a motivator..

Frustrating

That's just about right. Al is a career .500 W/L average coach. To paraphrase his DC, talent doesn't matter....

The biggest Thing Golden could do for himself is get 2 new coordinators.
He obviously can evaluate talent. The fact that some of these guys are performing we'll speaks to that. Some of the positional coaches are probably doing a good job with technique.
Get new coordinators and let them coach. In college a head coaches main responsibility should be getting the needed resources (coaches and players) and then make sure they perform up to a required standard. Stop the micro managing b.s. If they are solid coaches they should be able to install a system worthy of their hiring.

D'no and Coley don't have the imaginations to even coach at a top shelf high school. If I am wrong then Goldilocks needs to let them coach without his interference.

Many a great coordinator has made a lousy head coach. A good head coach needs to a good manager. Know your strengths and stick to them or
be gone.

Problem with this statement is most of these guys were going to be Shannon commits, so it had nothing to do with Golden identifying talent. Dorsett, Chick, Duke, and Walford.

"Well, Jon, they had to deal with a lot of wind..."

Can't coach. Can't recruit for squat. Can't develop players. Can't gameday coach. Can't adjust.

That's all embarrassing.

But now he's called out as dressing like a five year old trying on his dad's clothes.

I've removed all UM logos from my vehicles. Just got tired of being pointed at and laughed at. I got to the point I was ready to start popping caps and see if they thought that was funny.
