Per the ACC: Cherry is coming out of retirement specifically for this game and will be allowed to officiate, via FaceTime, from the comfort of his own home

Ron Cherry was basically forced to retire after gettin a blood clot from a hit to the head in a bowl game

Not sure how the ACC assigns but some other conferences assign the first half of the season and wait to do the 2nd half. Reason is to make sure the best crews are on the most meaningful games so they wait to see how the season develops. Tomorrow I would expect to have one of the top crews assigned.

ND always brings their own refs.

They don't do that anymore, their coaching staff just tells the other team when they've committed a penalty. Much simpler that way.
