Official v. Unofficial

Other than only being allowed to take a certain amount of OV's, what are the differences between the two types of visits?

I'm pretty sure on an official visit the school pays you to come down and pays for your hotel, hence why they are limited. An unofficial you have to go on your own dime and usually are shorter.
