I called Butch Davis. He was not campaigning for a job, since right now, as far as I know, Al Golden is still UM coach. (more )

However, I did ask if he'd be interested if the UM job came open

Butch Davis reply: “I’ve said a multitude of times that I regret having left the University of Miami and if...

...there were every an opportunity I would certainly love to be considered as a candidate for the coaching position.’’
..

Would fap.

They better have the guns loaded and ready to make a move on a new coach. Does anyone think we are prepared if AG does in fact leave?

The president just said that she doesn't know what's going on, what go you think?

Even if she did, do you think she would say it?

Well Strong hasn't "technically" left and the AD has already targeted replacements. One guys is the DC form Stanford.

UM seems very inept as of right now.

No, but then why say anything at all then? It's not as if they were prompt to begin with. At this point who cares what anyone says until it is absolute.

Miami's Golden interviews with #PSU; interest in Vandy's Franklin cools, writes @C_AdamskiTrib and @BCohn_Trib trib.me/1a8kPQ9

Miami coach Al Golden spent Saturday interviewing with members of the Penn State search committee charged with finding the university's next football coach, a source told the Tribune-Review.

Meanwhile, interest in Vanderbilt coach James Franklin, whose name has surfaced in connection with multiple job openings, appears to be waning, the source said.

Vanderbilt capped its season with a 41-24 victory against Houston on Saturday in the Compass Bowl. Last summer, authorities charged five Vanderbilt players for their alleged roles in a rape of an unconscious 21-year-old student at a campus dormitory.

All five later were dismissed from the team. Four remain charged with rape but have pleaded not guilty. The fifth pleaded guilty to trying to cover up the alleged rape.

ESPN reported Saturday that the Cleveland Browns and Washington Redskins requested permission from Vanderbilt to interview Franklin for their vacant coaching positions.

Bill O'Brien left Penn State last week to become head coach of the NFL's Houston Texans after just two seasons in University Park.

The Penn State search committee, chaired by athletic director Dave Joyner, traveled to an undisclosed location to interview Golden, a former Nittany Lions captain and assistant coach.

Golden, 44, who completed his third season at Miami with a loss in the Russell Athletic Bowl on Dec. 28, also coached at Temple for five seasons. He played tight end for the Lions from 1989-91 and was their linebackers coach in 2000.

Also on Saturday, the Tennessee Titans fired former Penn State offensive lineman Mike Munchak, who just completed his third season as head coach. A Pro Football Hall of Famer who has no college coaching experience, Munchak could land an interview with Penn State, the source said.

Golden has been mum since being linked to the Penn State job. Golden's Pennsylvania-based agent, Brett Senior, did not return phone messages Saturday.

Miami athletic director Blake James told the Sun Sentinel in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., that he and Golden “are in regular communication.”

“He is our football coach, and I believe he will be our coach going forward,” James told the Sentinel.

Typical bull****. Donna don't give a **** about this

If the admin is not actively looking for a replacement it will show complete neglect on the part of the AD and shalala for that matter. I mean at least get a taste of who may or may not be interested, back channels, front channels, side channels, I don't give a fug, if he is looking we should be.

Butch at Miami would be a dream come true. Forget waiting for PSU, Blake should fire Golden and replace him with Butch immediately.

If Golden left, Moskowitz said, “we need to put our hands in our pockets and hire the right coach if we want to get back to winning championships.”

that's a direct quote from a booster, female none the less

And what reason do you have to believe they are not actively exploring replacement coaches????? They don't normally announce a coaching search before the current coach is officially gone even when they have put their feelers out there. Relax. Seriously.
