Whelp, the answer is likely right under our noses = Coley.

If you want the recruiting class to stay together (and ask yourself who had a hand in the FSU monster classes?) and while I'm not sold on his O....how upset would you be if Golden Al skips town with Dorito and Coley lands the job?

honestly at this point i dont think it could be worse. we should keep most of the class and get a real DC. Coley was hired by Jimbob who has turned out to be a pretty good HC and has made good hires.

WQAM Just said on the Guzio and Donno show (at 11:42 AM TODAY) AG will be on Air Jan 6th Jose Rose and it is confirmed, so that must be a good sign for UM.

I think he used this PSU crisis as a power play get certain things from UM administration, which is an excellent move; if true and he stays at UM.

Go Canes

I am somewhat torn about Golden staying or leaving. I really want this recruiting class to stick but I REALLY want D'onofrio gone in the worst way. If I was forced to choose I would choose them moving on to PSU. Either way I hope the administration isn't foolish enough to allow Golden to leverage this situation to get a pay raise for himself or any of the staff. That in my opinion would be an epic fail by the university.

Not going to neg....but this is preposterous. Have the ShanCoker years taught you nothing? The University of Miami is not a place for somebody's first head coaching gig. ****...maybe he'll end up a superstar head coach somewhere, someday. But there is no way the admin should be willing to take that chance....

Jimbo's first HC job was at FSU. while I agree that Coley is very green, it is not out of the ordinary to promote coordinators to HCs even at major programs

I hope it back fires on him and he leaves. If he's that type of person no wonder our team sucks.

If I'm Blake James, I walk into Al Golden's office, sit down in his desk chair, poor a stiff drink and say the following: "You have to answer for Penn St. Al. Admit what you're doing. You're using Penn St. to try to get a raise. Today we settle all family business. If you want to keep this job, Al, here are my terms: You fire Mark D'Nofrio and you take a pay cut. What will it be Al?"

Golden could easily come out with an Art Briles type of statement.
And briles came out with his over a week after heavy conjecture and leaks that he would accept if offered.... Meaning he knows he didn't get it.

if I'm al, I'm trying to get my situation better even if I am staying and despite what the fan base here might think, so no reason to do that yet.

and even if you hate al, if he's going to stay, it's good for him to get more out of um cause it won't just be salary for him, it would be negotiating for more resources in general for staff as well. Not saying that means d goes, but might improve access to better assistants beyond that. Try to think it out in all scenarios, not blindly raging against the night.

i want the best for UM and that includes a better situation here even if Al stays... And this is his leverage point to extract more in multiple ways should he stay despite some of our wishes.

I think that interview Al has with Joe on Monday morning pretty much settles him staying..

This is the problem. Does anybody recall how few candidates were interested last time around? And we were all 'WHO?!' when Golden was hired. I'm just saying.....be realistic. Cane fans might not ever lower their sights but no one of note is rushing to be the next coach and if they are.....then that's a departure from the recent past.

LOL. James would be left drinking alone very quickly if those were his terms.

I don't know the level of sarcasm you normally operate with, but I'm hoping this post is filled with it. It would be the only way what you wrote made any sense.
