if you think james coley is a bad offensive coordinator you probably should stop watching football because you don't understand what is happening in front of your eyes

Are you ******* serious? You're an idiot if you think he's a good OC.

Pete's source on this legit. He's vague because nobody knows for sure what's going on right now.

As I posted in the other thread, Golden has told people in the program he's staying. Time will tell whether he was telling the truth.

Nick Saban was staying at Miami too.

james coley has coordinated nothing but top 10 offenses in his career, worked to build miami's main rival into a national juggernaut, is a dynamic recruiter and has deep miami ties

but yeah he's a terrible candidate

He's a ******* terrible candidate.

He's a great candidate for interim head coach and keeping this class together and a terrible candidate for next head coach.

Conversations between Penn State and Golden have taken place. Golden has serious interest in the job, but I'm told he is still torn on a decision. His wife loves it here and that could carry weight in his decision.

Keep in mind that all of this could be used as raise negotiations, but I think it is more serious than that whether he takes the job (if offered) or not.
Pete are you kidding me with this "update"This is high school newspaper worthy.

You act like you're paying for this site and that Pete isn't just some college kid doing this as a hobby

I don't know about you, but this is the first confirmation anywhere that a conversation has already occurred. That alone is a pretty big piece of information found no where else, and Pete confirmed it first. With that, I agree with Efil.

QYB (Quit Your *****ing).
At this point did you seriously need an update that a conversation had been had? Good grief. They talked on phone. Shocking development! Give me a break. It was stupid and non informative.

Sure, but there's a big leap from saying he's not a bad offensive coordinator to saying he'd make a great head coach.

Meanwhile Chris Yandle and Chris Freet, the 2 people in charge of communications for Miami, are nowhere to be found.

man you really have jumped the shark if you actually expect them to be commenting at all at this stage....

I will laugh at you fools when Golden turns PSU in to a powerhouse. You all will say we should have never let him go. The admin at Miami is bad and should have paid him more bah bah bah........

You my boy Dan, but what do you expect them to say?
Something. We've got over 50 pages of threads on this topic alone on the football board. It's not going to stop until PSU hires somebody. More articles in the media, recruits getting ansy, and it won't stop until the job is filled.

Just wait until he signs another fat extension........

My opinion is not an extension, but a raise. I don't think the University would agree to bind themselves any longer than the 6 years remaining due to buy outs.

all i said was that he should be seriously considered for the head job if there's an opening.

i think he's a great candidate for miami, as i outlined in my earlier post. he's affordable, been nothing but a success in his career, has experience at the school and in the city in general, and is a great recruiter.

Hey Al,

All we have heard since you got here was: "Its a process", "I'm here for the long haul", "There is no better place to be a coach", "We're building something here." You have heaped praise upon your staff for fighting through the dark cloud of the NCAA. You have commended the players for never wavering on their commitment through this time as well. You have convinced recruits to stand by you as you rebuild Miami into the power it once was. But now in the face of adversity, as your so-called "process" has begun to unravel, you tinker with the idea of jumping ship to Penn State. Sounds hypocritical to me.

Why is it ok to possibly leave behind the many kids that believed in you and joined your cause, but not make a change with your best friend and admit your process had its flaws? Learn from your mistakes. Re-assess your pillars. Change your process. Be a man and finish what you have started. Believe in these young men like they believed in you when the chips were down. Or you can take the easy way out and leave everything behind and unfinished. Then you will just prove to be the used car salesman so many have labeled you.

I got a call yesterday. Source was another coach (not at UM). Rumors like this always come through the coaching community, so I took it with a grain of salt. But he said that Golden was concerned that the 2014 team (which is feeling the effects of poor 2011 and 2012 classes) would hurt his standing. His value is high now.

There is legit smoke here. If Golden leaves, I believe the first call will be to Rob Chudzinski.
That fits perfectly with his shyster pvssy personality. He knows his recruiting classes suck so he wants to split before he gets even more exposed than he already is.

Right now, the only people who know he's a fraud are some astute UM fans, his assistant coaches, and Golden himself. If he hangs around much longer, the Ponzi bubble will burst. He doesn't appear willing to ditch his partner in crime or scrap his dilapidated busted system, so it's only a matter of time before his stock completely plummets.

Next year, he won't be able to rely on Shannon's players or, more importantly, the public's low opinion of Shannon's players as his crutch. It'll be pretty much all his own guys at that point, and the final bit of the Golden fraud (his alleged great recruiting) will be exposed. If he has half a brain he'll move on before the jig is up and he has to go into the broadcast booth after he gets shytcanned.

something doesn't pass the ol AU sniff test with D$'s rumor. Al had a top 10 recruiting class in 2012 and signed like 1561 guys. It was a very good recruiting class. I find it hard to believe Alvin has given up on that class altogether. Besides, any coach worth his salt doesn't worry about having a bad year - they all have a "I know I can fix it" attitude. For him to "supposedly" have the attitude that D$ is implying he has means that Alvin doesn't think he can outcoach anyone without replacing guys on his staff and I don't see him doing that.

But it would fit the exact model of the man he would be replacing:

It is business. Strike while the iron is hot. Al is an opening loss against Louisville from a banner at the first home game. Can anyone really blame him if he left?

Lol. I know you know better than that.

No one who knows anything is going to be saying a word... ESPECIALLY the two people in charge of controlling what information gets out to the public.

The 12 class didn't have the numbers, although there was some quality. The 11 class had a bunch of recruits that really shouldn't have been there.

Then why let rampant speculation run wild?
