**OFFICIAL RICHT HIRE A DEDICATED OC THREAD**

If LSU doesn't hire Briles, then just hire Art for a year and let him transform your offense. It allows Art to restart his career and gives us a real OC for a year. Then go and get someone similar to him.

Wish we could of kept James Coley...

There are many Ga fans wanting to ship him somewhere quick.
Richt is bad, but until the day he calls a FB pass in a typhoon, he's still not as bad as James Coley.

Snowstorm, not typhoon
I said typhoon for a reason. FB pass in a typhoon would be worse than a HB pass in a blizzard which is what Coley called. Stop stepping on my jokes son.

I knew this was coming, Golsen goto your room!!!!

I would like to see an open air attack, we have a lot to lose, just like last year, we need to make the right hire at OC. I feel confident with Richt, and Diaz, but for the love of God get a savage as an OC!!! TJ Weist would be nice

So what are the actually odds of an OC actually being hired? Is there anything other than wish listing to back up this idea?

Why TJ Weist?

My top guys are:

TJ Weist, Sean Lewis, Todd Fitch, Sterlin Gilbert (if they don't keep him at Texas), Kendall Briles (if he doesn't follow Art to LSU), Dan Werner (Idc if he's a Coker era, his Offense at Ole Miss is 10x better than ours now) & Ken Dorsey.

I'm not sure Richt would hire any big name guys that would cost more than $400-500k a year, so I tried to go with some more reasonable names that have good experience running high powered offenses & might actually be interested in coming.

You guys probably have better candidates than me, but one things for sure is that all these guys are running better Offenses than Richt right now.

I don't know about the other guys but Werner was dreadful at Miami. Maybe he's improved over the last decade.

If y'all are watching the USF vs Navy game right now, you'll see why TJ Weist is one of my top guys for OC.

Yea can he bring Flowers with him too...dude is having a game. Imagine what he would do with Perry.

TJ isn't calling plays...

Why TJ Weist?

While watching the USF game, I sure *** **** liked what his QB and WR'ers were showing; not only the passing game, WR blocking down field, pitch and catch, he has a well oiled machine on offense

About zero. One of Ricks main reasons for coming here was because he could call his own plays. Anyone remember him saying that about 1200 times in every interview that he gave before the season? Maybe he changed his mind though. You should ask him.

Butch Jones called plays for the Cincinnati team he was with, and Taggart calls them for USF.

I also don't remember UConn being some offensive juggernaut when he was their OC or interim HC.

So, how do you know how good he is at calling plays?

Lol.

You're too smart to really believe that's a possibility. The chances of Mark Richt bringing in Art Briles to be OC are less than zero.

I trust Richt will get his groove back. Or, he won't and will hire someone to call plays.

Those are the only 2 options if he really is interested in winning at the highest level, which is what he said he wants to do.

Everybody knows he could have gone to UVA, and rode off into the sunset without close to the expectations that exist at Miami.

He chose this job because he wants to win at the highest level. And I have no doubts his decisions with this team will reflect that.

We're not hiring Weist mid-season, so we'll absolutely be sticking with Richt for 2016. Lol

But by your rationale of Weist being just as involved as Taggart, then the real issue might just be Thomas Brown?

Because, and I don't really disagree with you, the play-calling is 2nd to the game plan. Lane Kiffin and Art Briles don't "wing it" on game day. The plays they call are implemented during the week for that specific game.

So, the calls for a new OC are not all that unreasonable. But we may want to hold off on replacing the actual play caller, IMO.

I think Richt thought he was getting Thomas Brown and Brian McClendon to come with him. And not having McClendon is turning out to be a big deal for the offense.

Butch Jones called plays for the Cincinnati team he was with, and Taggart calls them for USF.

He called plays at Western Kentucky & he had the same job that Sark has now with Bama for Michigan last year.

He helps develop the gameplay for USF now, it's not like Taggart does it all by himself, he's just as much involved in playcalling as Taggart is.

Or, let's just stick with Richt... Because his offense has been nothing short of fantastic thus far.

Richt is running a new system but his playbook is outdated?

How?

Richt should keep calling plays. This thread is stupid af. Now if we see the same crap next year then im with this but really..calling for an OC already?

When you score 21, 19, 13 against 3 porous defenses in the nation, not the ACC, but the F'N NATION; when you are dang near dead last in red zone TD %, 3rd down conversion %, ANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNND dang near lead the nation, not the ACC, but the MF'N NATION in 3 and out % ppg, yeah, it's time for you to relieve your duties as a play caller.

Youre a plum idiot if you think that those problems can be fixed with different playcalling.

The oline coaching is the problem. Richts hire, i get that. But the playcalling is fine.

playcalling has nothing to do with the highest drop rate in CFB.

Mark Richt is learning this team, still He will be fine. This is a pure over reaction.

Name 1 coach who took over a team with a pocket passer and a bad oline and turned them into even a remotely good offense?
