Offensive Players who will be key this year

Backup center is definitely a concern considering Ryan's health concerns.

SJ doesn't seem ready. Has a guy like Cline snapped before; could he fill in?
I think they cross train everyone at center just to be 100% prepared, francis took snaps there and i think i remember mario even saying rivers was our backup center in 24.

Im guessing buchannan is the backup center because we have alot of guys who can probably play guard and tackle, he’s one that seems like a guard/center player

People said Cam Ward had an issue with fumbling pre-Miami too, although I don’t recall his numbers (I think they were lower than Mensah’s). How concerned should we be, or do we think this might be something that will naturally improve due to 1) our elite OL and 2) coaching?

It's actually quite uncanny just how many similarities there are between Cam Ward and Darian Mensah. To answer your question, I don't think it's something to be overly concerned about given the fact that Mensah is going from the atmosphere like he had in Duke where he was pressured and sacked frequently to the atmosphere and culture in Miami where elite Offensive Line play is our identity. Mensah was sacked 27 times in 2025 at Duke including the ACCCG and the Sun Bowl vs Arizona State(14 games). If we only count the regular season(12 games)the the sack number is 22. Beck was sacked 18 times in 2025 including the playoffs(16 games). Only counting the regular season(12 games) the sack number is 9. We must also take into consideration that despite Beck's postseason where he displayed improved mobility(ironically Beck was sacked 9 times through the 4 game playoff), Beck is generally considered to be quite immobile and basically a statue. Mensah on the other hand while he isn't inclined to run around the pocket evading defenders like Patrick Mahomes is much more mobile than Beck and is far better at escaping danger. Suffice it to say that Mensah will have better protection, far better weapons at his disposal and a significantly better defense backing him up. Consequently, he will not be in a position where he has to be Superman on every play thus greatly reducing situations that are conducive to fumbling in my humble opinion.
