Offense v SMU

are they good vs the run or have they just played bad running teams? The best rushing team they have played is wake forest and they are ranked 77th. Seems to be more of a case of just containing teams who already struggle to run the ball
Good point.

Baylor is #62 in EPA/rush
TCU is #118
Cuse is #78
Stanford is #69
Clemple is #131 (lmao)
Wake is #114

It's a bit different from UL going into our game. They had played JMU and UVA; both are quality running teams. Would not be surprised if we try to lean on SMU early and often in the run game.

Our predictable play calling is perfect for SMU. I know they will spread the field and they have the speed to do it. We have to show up better than the last 2 games to try and win this game.

True but fandom in November hasn’t been easy… hopefully MC has figured that piece out because for whatever reason how trash a team has been hasn’t mattered that much this time of year for us.
I get this sentiment but even last year we didn’t lose to bad teams. GT was playing good football remember they took uga to all those OTs. Syracuse was 10-3 last year and we should’ve won being up 21-0 but still

I guess we just keep up with this ****** effectiveness that the board is *****ing about

Looks like good against good with our red zone offense and SMU's red zone defense.

The efficiency numbers are much kinder to our offense than the traditional counting #'s this year. I presume that's because while we are generally efficient on offense we have shot ourselves in the foot too many times with penalties and turnovers.

Have to open it up and trust Beck. We looked like how we did when Dawson had to protect TVD for the first quarter of last game, and we can’t have that.

I’m not a Beck fan, but you paid the kid $4m. If you open it up and he sucks, that’s on him. But you didn’t pay him that much to protect him in 12 personnel with two TEs who are liabilities and not P4 quality.

Spread with WR sets and pound A gap duo against lighter boxes if you want.
Sadly our OC treats the word “spread” like a widowed farmer that is the father of 3 teenage girls

Balance is the way. I don't trust Carson Beck to sling it all over the field. Miami will need to be able to run, to lean on SMU and make it easier for Beck. It won't be a grindfest, but Miami isn't going to turn into Mike Leach's TTU teams either. It will be a game where playaction will be important, because that freezes guys. Playaction/RPOs only work if the opposition believes you can and will run the ball consistently.

Correct, and our success rate is high on both sides of the ball. We just don’t have a lot of explosives on offense, but if you’re successful and don’t take losses, your EPA is rewarded.

Just get 2.7 yards in the first three quarters, wear them down, get out of Dallas with a nice 16-13 win.

Yea I'd take that right now...
