OC search

Are we certain that Mario won’t try to run it back with Dawson?
Does Dawson want to stay in this situation and keep taking the heat? To me that’s the bigger question. Especially is Mario is handcuffing his play calling and making him look bad.

Let me ask y’all something.

Shannon Dawson had the #1 offense in the country last year. We can argue why he did or who is mainly responsible for it til we’re all blue in the face, but point is, facts are facts.

So in one year, when Mario and co. run him off as the scapegoat - who in their ******* right mind would take this job if they’re an OC worth a ****?

Mario will only hire guys he’s comfortable with regardless, but point still stands. We’ll be on OC #3 in five years, and we’d have run off a guy we were worried about getting an HC gig.

At some point, the scapegoats don’t work anymore.

Nobody with any real hopes of upward career mobility.

So basically someone that just wants to collect a paycheck and stay employed for another round.

I fully expect this to be Dawson’s last season, and the replacement won’t make a bit of difference

I'm curious what you are like during a game like yesterdays. Do you get angry, throw your arms up, or more so just laugh? lol I'm leaning on the later as my guess.
I used to get angry, but then the God forsaken 2018 Onside Kick against UVA completely broke me.

Now it's more so just a malaise of disappointment & inevitable acceptance.

The only thing that really frustrates me is bad CB & QB play. I can't watch it; it makes my stomach curl & White blood cells burn when I see sh*tty Dinkin' & Dunkin' QB play.

Ya I think even if Mario doesn’t want to jettison him, it’s unlikely he’s going to want to stay and go down with the ship. I think he pursues greener pastures in the Big 12 or something.

Most likely a mutual agreement to depart though.

Feel that. You must have anticipated this QB play coupled with Dawson playcalling before the season started. I recollect you forecasting the Cam Ward drop off would be much more significant than other folks on the site, some of who were projecting him a 1st rounder.

It’s that time of year folks. Who we got on the short list. Un-realistic options only please

I’ll start.

Kliff Kingsbury

Yeah, I’m sure he’s about to leave the pros as a coordinator for a college coordinator’s job versus the head coach job

Pretty clear that offense was Cam last year. Take him away and we are right back to this year. 2023 and 2025 are shaping up to be mirror seasons so you have to think those are the norms. If you look at it that way this offensive system and play calling needs a #1 overall QB to succeed.

If the offense was just cam last year, explain to me why he was about to be a fifth -7th round draft choice, and the Washington state offense wasn’t better

That’s why I’m asking for un-realistic options. A realistic option (not one I would want)would be Sherron Moore when he gets fired at Michigan. Mario ain’t changing his style for anything.

I never understood this. Saban seemed to go through coordinators on an annual basis, especially on offense. I think there is something to that. Keeps everything fresh and doesn’t let teams settle into tendencies.

Saban went through OCs at a rapid pace, especially towards the end of his tenure, because they all left for better jobs. Tommy Rees being the exception, because he sucks *** but Kiffin, Sark, Locksley, Daboll, O’Brien all left for HC jobs or NFL OC positions. They all are in better positions now, obviously.

Where are all of Mario’s coordinators after they left UM?

While Mario is a work a holic, how much time are the coordinators putting in? I mean, I hear D money talking about not being able to change much mid season which I get. I’m not talking about going from an air raid to a speed option to a spread to a Pro I in season. I’m talking about little wrinkles here or there. FFS watching NCS and GT last night it looked like they’re playbooks must be 500 pages long while ours appears to be on an index card.
