Proud of the team for fighting hard against FSU & putting us in a position to tie the game on Emory's last drive. The whole complexion of the game changed when Bissainthe's sack of Travis wasn't ruled a safety (absolute garbage). IMHO, that's the ACC wanting a team in the CFP. FSU is the most likely candidate (if they are 10-0) so they get the call (which was unquestionably wrong). TV announcers were stunned & didn't know what to say. If we had gotten those 2 pts & received a kick (with a safety ruling), the trajectory of the game could have been significantly different (especially with us receiving the ball after the half). Even though that ruling (and some other terrible ones) went against us, the team kept fighting & we had a real shot to tie the game on Emory's last drive. Emory showed he's a warrior by laying out for that 1st down. Prayers up for him as he showed tremendous courage & a strong will to win for his teammates. Pls don't look at his stats & conclude he had a bad game or isn't a good QB. With him, the team scored 20 pts (really 22 w/ the safety) & was driving with a real chance to tie the game. That's in a raucous Doak against an undefeated team in his 2nd start. He showed tremendous poise for a freshman on the road in the biggest game of the yr. He had us in the game for much of the game. Compare that to the 6 pts we scored against NC State (when we showed virtually no life on O). He scored 3.33x the pts in the most heated rivalry game in the nation on the road. He didn't turn the ball over multiple times. He was handcuffed by the playcalling, the predictability of our Offense, and his own desire to avoid turnovers. Proud of all of the players on the team for fighting to the end & putting forth a great effort.

The Good:

Trenches. The OL wasn't perfect but Emory generally had plenty of time to throw. The running game was generally effective. Chaney had some outstanding runs.

Jacolby George: he showed some special things in this game. Loved both of his TD catches.

Bissainthe's sack of Travis in the End Zone. What a huge play that was.

Francisco Mauigoa's sack.

Run D: 57 yds (granted that includes some pretty big losses on sacks) but still aside from a few breakdowns (mostly when our D was tired) our run D was vastly improved from last year. Major props to Guidry & the D.

Flagg - made some great plays in big spots (TFLs etc).

Dylan Joyce - dude's a dude.

Emory's poise & fight. He put us in a position to tie up the game with our toughest opponent of the year...in his second start. He beat Clemson in his first start. All that while being a freshman & having one hand tied behind his back because the staff wanted to ease him into two tough gigs against serious opponents.

The Bad:

The hold on the long FG Borregales missed. The laces weren't in the right spot.

The Ugly:

The call by the refs on the Safety. The ACC's central office confirming that. I can't stand the officiating & the bias in this Conf (GT & now this). It has not been kind to our Football Team to say the least.

Not using Brashard (nearly enough) & Chris Johnson (at all). To show you how maddening a decision that is, those great runs by Chaney (and they were awesome) are likely house calls by BS & CJ. Someone pls explain how Dawson doesn't use these two super explosive players at least 5-7 times each in this game. It is mind boggling to me. Even 1-2 explosives from them could have made all the difference. Super disappointed they weren't used more. Could have won us the game. CJ is freaking electric with world class speed. Use him. Brashard changed games for us against A&M AND Clemson (arguably the two biggest plays of each of those games). Yes, he had a dumb penalty in this game but someone pls explain how & why you don't use your two game-changing talents at least 5-7 times each.

Dawson should have designed more plays (quick & easy throws) for Emory to not only counter FSU's blitzes but actually take advantage of them. Emory should never have been left exposed to sacks on long developing plays (i.e., on 3rd & longs). Dawson should have called plays that got the ball out of Emory's hands fast to protect him & avoid sacks that push us out of FG range, strip sacks, fumbles or poor throws. Had he done a better job of that, Emory could have been smiling as his playmakers took advantage of the lanes opened by the blitzers. Instead he had to hold the ball too long & got sacked (one of those sacks made the Borregales missed FG way longer). Huge mistake! That is unquestionably on Dawson. He needs to be better.

Not having a reliable pass-catching TE (with Arroyo in street clothes) absolutely killed us in this game. We needed reliable big targets in the worst way in this game to move the chains, be a safety blanket for Emory, and take the focus off the WR. FSU basically only had to account for a run game between the tackles and a passing game conducted in a phone booth. That's far too simple to be effective against quality competition.

All the mistakes we made throughout the game. FSU was disciplined. We made too many unforced errors (Brashard's penalty, bunch of false starts, Restrepo fielding that first kick etc etc). Had we played a clean game, we may have put them in a real tough spot after that Safety.

Kam not playing his assignment (letting the receiver behind him) on that one play where JWill prevented a TD. Kam has been a baller for us (the vast majority of the time). Where he can improve tremendously is not getting caught out of position so much & giving up explosives & TDs. The one today was a killer. Looked to me like he had his nose in the backfield & allowed the receiver to get behind him for a huge play.

Pass D: way too many PI penalties. The younger Brown played well though & he had a tough assignment today. We need a major infusion of top quality talent at the DB position.

Play of the WRs today (other than Jacolby & Brashard). We need a major upgrade in the talent level at this position. Granted Emory missed the mark on quite a few throws but still.

Major props to the team for putting up a valiant fight. Prayers up for Emory.
