Observation from the game...Wide receivers

I was at the Stadium. I tried to focus on the receivers.
Yes, Rosier missed some throws and threw three or four head scratchers. No doubt,
But I can only recall one or two easy throws. Very little separation, from my vantage point.
It was rare to see a WR getting open. Hightower did have a step on a CB but couldn’t pull in a slightly overthrown ball from Rosier.
I know scheme/play calling is a big issue but are the receivers running their routes right? Are they just not good? Have they given up?
How much are the WRS responsible for our problems?
Yeah, we miss Richards/Thomas but...only one catch by a WR (22 yards to Cager)?

If our WR's are running the same 5 or so routes, and the defenders can pretty much tell from formation and tendency which route you're likely running, it's tough to get separation.

Not saying our WR's aren't phoning it in, but it's more likely scheme, limited route tree, and repetitive/crappy route combos that are more to blame.
 
Hightower you mean. And yes I think a lack of leadership on the offensive side of the ball is a big factor. Losing Jeff an Ahmmon really hurt us this year. Someone has to step up and lead this team because Richt sure as **** can't.

It’s a mix of both. And something easy to miss.. We missed Braxton big time. Our guys struggle setting up DBs to create that separation at the top of routes
 
The WR are little dudes. You don't ask little dudes to just fight off man coverage that way. You send them in motion so they can avoid the press. You go bunch formation and make the CBs and Safeties have to communicate, otherwise you get blown coverage's. You use complimentary routes so that you don't have two WRs in the same area with 3 DBs. You run pick routes, that are well practiced to avoid Offensive PI. I could go on for days. The offense is not made for anybody to do well!

Pretty much. If you are a DC, you just play man at the line force our QB to throw in tight windows. Without Thomas and Richards, are QB have to be really accurate, and unfortunately neither Rosier or Perry are accurate enough.

Dugans has been a great paper recruiter and his positions run blocking is elite. Otherwise, see above

It still goes back to play calling and coaching. We ran the same plays we ran against Wisconsin last year and they were ready for everyone of them!
 
Are you telling me that overall we have worse receivers than those at Nebraska, Purdue, Iowa, and Rutgers? Don't believe this nonsense that we don't have talent at WR. We just don't have the coaches that know how to scheme them open and play to their strengths. People want to trash JT4 but people should realize how good he is considering he was able to produce in this garbage scheme.

It was almost like the defense knew what was coming . . .

We had our version of Rondale Moore (JT Money) but those clowns didn't know what to do with him. Scheme and staph are hot hot gabbage.
 
Big part of the issue is how we use our receivers.

Like trying to use Langham as our vertical threat
Bubbles to Cager
Bubbles to Brevin (who I like) into short side of field.
Lining Harley as X on LOS and letting him get pushed around and thrown off his route

Route combos and how we use our receiving talent severely hampers our rate of success

One big conglomerate of phuckery on that side of ball
