Obligatory, what are Clemson fans thinking thread.....

Can we stop their running game? Feaster and Etienne (who I think we went after) are both very good; of course Bryant can run as well. I'm assuming M. Jackson will match up with Deon Cain. Their defense has had a lot of pick 6s this year Malik has no room for error. We'll need to bring it for this game.

I think we can stop their running game. Their run game tends to wear teams down and then have big plays late in the game when the other team is tired (sound familiar?). We need to sustain drives and can’t continuously put our D on the field. They also rely on a lot of missed tackles which isn’t really a probem for us.

I agree; Malik is gonna have to have a 60%+ completion rate to keep us competitive in TOP. I don't know if we can count on the OL to open run lanes against this defense.

Agreed. Malik needs to be on point.

they are very bad at deep ball throws, yes even worse than us

if we can contain the running backs then we should be okay on that side of the ball,

now for our offense, i am really worried about us not getting any push whatsoever on their D line. I would imagine a lot of 5 WR sets coming saturday night

Losses are never good

That being said even if we were undefeated we would he the underdog and worried going into this game

Is there anyone MORE confident now that we lost to Pitt and everyone is ragging on us?

I am. No way they don't come out ****ed off and ready to dominate. Will we win? Idk but we have a better shot than we would if we had squeaked by Pitt

Yeah the intangibles are a factor here - Clemson is riding high and probably very confident after our Pitt losss and their USCe win and hopefully will underestimate us. But...we’re on the road and dabo probably won’t let his team underestimate us

They are by far.. by far the most confident fan base I ever have seen

Even more so than bama

1 championship in the last 36 years will do that to you I guess

The past means nothing. They are elite right now and probably 14+ points better than Miami currently.

Miami has a weak Oline that is going to cause Rosier into terrible down and distances all night. Miami won't be able to run the ball which will cause Rosier to take on too much and the result will be TO's.

This game is going to be ugly.

If Pitt can beat the #2 team in the country, then we could beat the #1 team in the country. We have to limit our punting and Rosier has to be accurate in the short game. Not sure those bombs on first down are going to work his game even if he puts it on the money.

I love my canes and have not watched Clemson this year. Whereas I thought we could beat FSU, ND, and VT I am not feeling the same way at the moment. Last two games for us have exposed many problems. TE going down is a MAJOR blow for our team. I don’t see how our offense pulls this together. Rosier is shaken, OL not establishing itself, Herndon out, and Pitt had a nice blue print for us. Our D should be more than fine but our offense worries me much like all season save ND and VT. I am a big homer but don’t see how we pull this one out.

for whatever reason, we've always matched up well with them.. there's something about our type of player that does well against them, its a little of them being a poor man's version of us, but they have gotten better and deeper the last couple years,

Here’s a piece of what they think we are worth:

“Their O line is average at best & QB is pretty much their run game. He’s inconsistent throwing the ball beyond 10-15 yds but we know first-hand how a running QB can be effective. Everyone knows how they create turnovers and they’re really dependent on them. Their secondary is very fast & can close on hanging passes & close on receivers that look open. The main thing for the Tigers is to take care of the ball & be consistent in the run game, as well as not over persue on the d line to keep Rosier in check. CLEMSON CAN EASILY WIN THIS ONE BY DOUBLE DIGITS as long as they play clean. Plus there’s always the Mark Richt/big game equation.”

I think it’s time Homer breaks a few big ones.

Hopefully we give him more than 9 carries this game

Clemson has a great front 7. their secondary is pretty average though and they've had a lot of injuries at CB this year.

Rosier is really going to have to win the game for us, because the back end is where they can be beat. We're just not going to win at the line of scrimmage vs their DL.

Herndon's injury has me pretty negative about our chances. I just don't think we have enough firepower without him, even if we hold their offense in check

Kelly Bryant doesn't do anything particularly well, pretty average QB. Going to give them about what Rosier gives Miami.

It's the same game plan you bring against Notre Dame. Suffocate the run and force Bryant to beat you with his arm. Spy on Bryant to keep him honest and don't let them hit a big throw.

Contain their run game and you can definitely win this game.

As said above, i like our chances better Without the Streak. They can get awfully heavy.
Let it all hang out, gamble a bit on 4th down, have some fun.
This has been a good season no matter what happens..

Kinda sums it up for me as well. Not to be an a-hole, but we got kicked in the face by a mediocre/crap Pitt team with everything on the line. We did zero about it, so all this talk about pride etc. doesn't ring true to me. Our QB could really care less apparently and not having our best TE,RB and WR healthy gives me little hope.

The thing that gives me pause is Rosier - how is he after the pitt game? Is his confidence shot? Or, is he more resolute/determined/focused?

His confidence should be through the roof, especially after he watches the game film. Our guys were wide open ALL GAME. He has to be kicking himself right now.

Thing is, they're going to be wide open ALL GAME on Saturday, too. He has to make the throws bc they are most definitely going to be there. Clemson's DB's cannot hang with ANY of our WR's.

This is where I am as well and I think this will be the difference-maker. If getting pulled from the Pitt game lit a fire under his *** and made him more determined to lead this offense and make the plays he knows he needs to make, then we have a good shot. He said in the post-game interview that in fact it did make him realize that he was too complacent and needed to step up. Our receivers are fast and athletic and can take advantage, but he's going to be under a lot of pressure so he will need to make quick reads and get rid of the ball quickly and accurately.

I'm really bummed about Herndon though. Colossal loss.
