I don’t see how you can say the next 2 games don’t impact your opinion of the team. It’s literally 17% of the season and we play a Top 10 team on Saturday.
Because TVD is going to be the QB and unless we win out and do it by scoring 35 points a game vs winning 20-17 or 16-13, it’s not going to change my mind on this offense.

I don’t see how all of a sudden we flick a switch and look somewhat competent. The offense, in my view, is what it is.

I agree, with a bit of hesitation on my part because I feel Norvell is just one of the better game day coaches in the ACC, if not the best.

Mario doing Mario things in game day and the OC/HC conundrum is my only real hesitation with your statement.

Travis would certainly cover up a lot of the coaching flaws.
He’s definitely better than Mario but he’s had some head scratchers himself, the onside kick this past game? The fumble on the goal line last year vs lsu, they’ve gotten lucky a lot and since they’ve won those games the fan base isn’t calling for his head anymore like in 20 and 21.

They have been lucky. No doubt.

If I was an FSU fan, I didn’t have a problem with that on-side. They knew Miami couldn’t move the ball and when you look at the replay, it was Ladson vs 4 Noles. We were the ones lucky to recover that onside. Ladson started to move inside for the return and they almost got him vacating that area too soon.

Special teams: Who gives a ****.
Nobody until you have Feagles Jr kicking 15 yard punts, Baxa making 50% of the fields goals, and returner that has a 40% chance of muffing it.

Special teams is always underrated until it goes awry.

Starting this with 2 games left because nothing that happens in these last 2-3 games won’t change much in my mind one way or another.

Regardless of the final record, IMO, the product on the field has improved compared to last year. With that said, here are my coaching & positional grades (no recruiting grade) without my Mope or Slurper green & orange shades. My Grades are based on performance only. Not whether there was talent or not enough talent in the room.

QB:
TVD: D- (Easily could be an F, but had a decent start to the season and played ok vs UNC. Because he was playing with significant injuries, gave him a D- despite the mental collapse).

Emory: C+ (Warrior/Leader: 1-1 vs two of the most difficult defenses on our schedule while thrown into the fire).

Overall Grade: F

RB:

Grade based on performance with this offensive line:

Overall Grade: B-

WR:

Tough to grade with the QBs struggling.

Overall Grade: B

TE:

Coaching staff failed in bringing in more players via the portal especially with Arroyo coming off ACL injury.

Overall Grade: D (not an F because I felt bad they got worn down only blocking and OC never really called anything for them).

OL:

Overall Grade: A

Overall Offensive Grade: 22.3 PPG in the ACC = D

DEFENSE:

DE/DT:

Overall Grade: B+

LBs:

Overall Grade: A

CBs:

Overall Grade: B

Safeties:

Overall Grade: B-

Overall Defensive Grade: B+

Special Teams: B (Borregales = A).

Coaching:

HC: F (Win the GT game and grade is a C).
OC: D
DC: A
Addae: B+ (I see development and improvement with safeties and Corner Play).
Taylor/Salave’a: B+
Mirabal: A
Beard: B+
Harris: B-
Nicholson: A
Woodiel: I almost want to give an ”I” for incomplete but will give a D.

What are your best objective grades?? Can’t wait for the OC talk all off season!

Emory (C+)?? He beat Clemson in his first start as a TF. He starts against fsu at their stadium. He gets hurt on the last drive where he could have reasonably tied up the game. And, had the acc replay cabal called the safety like they should have, Emory could have beaten the noles had he been able to finish the game. How does he not get the credit he deserves??

Or X failing to field a punt at 12 yard line. Or Coleman running untouched for 50 yards up middle of the field. Or......the list goes on.

Definitely coaching makes a huge impact - I was watching several games over the weekend and during the bama uk game - they mentioned how the coaches entirely redid the whole play book in the middle of the season to run what worked for the QB and kept adding/adjusting to the QB. Is the QB Milroe a great QB? Not yet maybe not ever - still missed wide open wr etc - But what a concept to call plays that work for the QB and the team.

On that same note - what happened with Chaney? he had a couple of excellent runs and then not sure if I remember seeing him get a lot of runs after that (I was at work and very busy in stretches so could have missed some runs etc)

He’s getting credit man. I said he played vs two of the most difficult defenses but he also has a super vanilla game plan and he missed a lot of throws. He’s a True Freshman. He was huge vs Clemson in the 4th quarter. Didn’t turn the ball over vs FSU.

I am not the type to say “If you take away the long pass to George” but in the 2nd half, outside of that one throw, he did absolutely nothing with the offense in the 3rd & 4th quarter.

He was extremely mediocre overall, IMO.

You are free to grade him whatever you want, brother. I just shared my opinion on it. If you want to give him a B or an A, go for it.

Glad you weren’t my teacher. Not a single F but cumulative grade is an F. Multiple A/B grades but cumulative grade is a D. Lol
No offense to @PIPO , who is a solid poRster around here...

But if you were my teacher and you handed out grades like that, I'm in the dean's office this afternoon trying to get you fired. And you're not getting a Jimbo severance package either.

Agree with most of what you said except that DB’s get a C+ at best from me.

For a group with that much starting experience I don’t understand how there are constant missed assignments, poor angles, and terrible tackling from them as a whole.

GT game was lost because the DBs tried to play hero ball and let them drive down 74 in 15 seconds, not because Chaney fumbled.

I graded the CBs and Safeties separately but pretty much gave them the same grade.

I thought as a team for the whole season so far have tackled well, especially Couch, Davis and Porter.

Coming into FSU, as a defense, I think we only had 27 missed tackles or something like that. One of the best in the country. Certainly compared to Manny, complete turn around.

Unfortunately, I think we had something like 13 missed tackles vs FSU and the end of NC ST sucked.

I thought the point was to debate certain issues that are brought up by the poster 🤔 I could care less about the subjective grade but my point was to highlight the kid’s extraordinary achievements in his two starts as a TF. Irrespective, I appreciate the time you put into these conversations 🙌

I am here to debate, brother. I gave you my perspective on it but only said you are free to give your grade. I graded it what I graded it and anything above a C+ is a bit too generous for me. Look at his stats. He went 8-23 in the passing game. I probably should’ve graded him a D+ at best.

"there are three types of lies: lies, **** lies and statistics". 😂 For the record, based on the totality of the circumstances, I would assign Emory a B+ or A-. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

OK, but you still have to see what happens?

There's a good chance nothing changes and your opinion won't change, but you're submitting grades before all the tests are taken. That doesn't make sense. What if we look good and win the next 2? Or what if we look lifeless and get blown out twice. That's 16% of the season, my guy. We only get 12 of these games a year. You can't say 2 of them are literally meaningless, especially when one is against a Top 10 team.
