One of my favorites too. Just watching him on tape and seeing how much effort he gave every play is inspiring.

We might've had better DE's. But very few gave more than Rusty did.

My favs:

1.) Ted Hendricks
2.) Frank Gore
3.) Jerome Brown
4.) Sean Taylor
5.) Rusty Medearis
6.) Ken Dorsey
7.) Ed Reed
8.) Ray Lewis
9.) Michael Irvin
10.) Braxton Berrios

Your missing Robert Marve

Yup I remember when we split the MNC with Washington in 91, Rusty said "plow one of your cornfields and we will settle it there" Classic Savage Cane.

I would fly down from Jersey to be at the Orange Bowl! Man, thank God I had a job!!
Those days were "GREAT TIMES"!
Teams had PURE FEAR TO PLAY MIAMI!!

Also, the 85 Bears game where the refs were begging people to not be so loud. :)

When they were undefeated at 14-0 or something like this? If so, I remember that the game was on MNF and the Bears had to go with Steve Fuller due to Jim McMahon's injury.

I was at the game. The old lady was rockin’ that night. Houston scored late to make the score a little closer but we crushed ‘em.

Yep.

If you watch it on Youtube, its unlike anything I've ever heard. The announcers are literally shouting into the microphones to be heard even before the kickoff.

It sucks that Berrios played in such a ****** era of Canes football.

Got to see us smash notre dame live last year.

A lot of the long timers there told me it was shades of the OB.

My favorite OB game has to be 1989 v. ND.

There was Roman Collesiums not as bloodthirsty as Canes fans that night.

:)

Single greatest football game Ive ever attended was the 89 Notre Dame game. Its impossible to give people an understanding of that event using only verbal language. You'd need a teleporting device for people to truly understand that night.

Was that the 3rd and 45 game?

Yes. And the real story of that game was that Dennis Erickson out-coached Lou Holtz bigly in that game. Two examples come to mind.

1). 3rd and goal from the 7 yard line right before half. Lou Holtz was so sure that Dennis Erickson was going to pass that he put his dime defense in on a goal-to-go situation. Erickson called a draw. Steven McGuire walked into the end zone.

2). 3rd and 43. Again, coach Holtz was so sure that Erickson would play for field position that he was in a base 4-3 defense on that play. Erickson ran quad seems and converted a first down. Among the more epic plays I've ever seen.
