Oline looking like them Al golden/Manny Diaz lines.. We have skill guys but wea in trenches.. We dont look championship level.. and when you mention it, everyone solution is a true freshman..

Al Golden had good lines Brandon Linder, Ereck Flowers, Feliciano, Seantrel Henderson, Shane McDermott.. all NFL guys! He just couldn’t let go of his wefense!

What happened after that group left? The o-line was weak. They got kaaya knocked out vs clemson on a 3 man rush. Linder was out there doing splits getting ran over

He likely came to mario with a guarantee nil amount regardless of starting nn Mario balked at it and figured we could back fill with a developmental portal guy on the cheaper....noticed we tried to get thompson kid from usc east (then quickly detoured to merriweather) thas t likely was because of nil money amounts as well.

Thy just misplayed the portal severly during the spring, clearly pays sj good nil, and was loyal to rodriguez....

Reason know this is because they only strongluy went after TACKLES in the portal...Cline was b asically a walk on take dude didnt even start fully at East Tennesee State or wherever he came from. Meriweather appears to be a Major developmenal project

I'm sure Seaton factored in as well. Why spend on Kinsler and potentially have to re-negotiate the entire OL room NIL, vs paying more for a clearly better player? Problem is Seaton likely started a bidding war that LSU was determined not to lose.

Easy fix. McCoy to LG and Cantwell to RT

I'm starting to think the youngins should stay on the interior OL.

Go for the mauling ability, and quick-pass from spread formations or move the pocket to scheme around our weakness in pass-pro. At least the youngins offer mauling ability in the run-game.

They effectively have two weeks with quality reps next Saturday to work with these kids before Clemson.

Mario and Mirabal thought they were going to pull a Randolph and Mortimer Duke on everyone.

They thought they were going to take a 5 year jag and a younger player that is clearly looking like a jag and turn them into bigtime players.

Cantwell has to be sitting there wondering how he isn't playing, watching SJ in the film room.

Not getting at least 1 starter in the portal is the root cause. Basically rolling out 3 unknowns + 2 guys playing different positions.

Not sure I can completely blame them for that. They have been doing a good job developing the guys they had. I think not getting Jordan Seaton was an issue...but he chose LSU.

O-line is lacking talent and we over looked it because of Mario and mirabal track record. Look at that list. Only 5 guys are ranked 4 star or higher and 3 of them are freshmen. That year 2 and 3 o-line recruiting was bad and it has caught up to them now. Way too many big projects that probably won’t ever play here

Kinsler should have been stepping in this year.

Brother, if you want 30 + players from the portal go be a fan of Colorado. OSU and UT are the deepest teams with us. You know what else all 3 of us have in common. The least amount leaving the program and the least amount transferring into the program. And that’s even with the OL issue.

This is such a disingenuous arguement because NOBODY is saying bring in 30 portal guys.. I havent seen that once inn anyones points or discussions. But ESPN did flash that we were dam near last in nation in portal recipients and like 17th in conference. It didnt make sense to not hit some areas on team that we know we could use some help. NOT 30, stop that.. lol..

Please, don’t forget I’m the OP of the transfer portal thread. Any post with a semi productive player, this board blows their load all over the place and tries to make an argument to bring said player in. If y’all had your way you would portal in new starters for every single open position just like Colorado.

I am glad that we are out of the contention for the national title in mid-September after three weeks of play.

Wonder how other fanbases feel. Probably ecstatic about their chances given how well everyone else is playing...
