And the way we going about building it up in these “preseason” games is concerning. There’s no real rotation.. which means 1 thing.

FELLAS JUST IMAGINE DOWN THE LINE AS WE GET DEEPER IN ACC PLAY & LATER IN THE CFP & HOW DEFENSIVE COORDINATORS WILL BE WATCHING OUR PREVIOUS GAMES DURING VIDEO GAME PREP RUBBING HANDS LIKE BIRDMAN WATCHING SJ AT GUARD AND RYAN AT CENTER

I believe that Mario’s good track record at developing offensive lineman has turned into hubris this year, thinking he can develop Rodriguez and SJ into decent P4 interior lineman

The shortest path to the quarterback goes right through SJ and Rodriguez, who happened to be the weakest link, defending the path to the quarterback

When Bruno (Kinsler) transferred out it killed us. Saw him starting at RT for Ole Miss.

Rodriguez
Buchanan and every other guy competing for one spot
Kinsler or Mccoy

...would have been significantly different for us, I think.

FWIW, Kinsler looked like a Guard playing Tackle for a lot of reps I watched. But, you know, we could use that, too.

I will NEVER understand the Kinsler move from either side of the equation.

Why would Mario and Mirabal sign him, put in the work to develop him, then let him walk and let another team get the best version of him?

From Kinsler side why would you wait your turn then when its your turn to start, leave?

Agreed. But at 6’8” he’s a mountain of a man to get around. Lot harder to get around him rather than SJ.

I’d say go with size Cantwell and live with some mistakes.

D$ claims he didn’t have a starting spot locked down.
 
Anyone that thought OL would not be an issue before season started was delusional. Too many new starters. Takes most OL 2 seasons plus to be ready for full time duty. It is what it is and hope for marked improvement by ND

I can understand the loyalty and him wanting to give guys a chance, but it would be a shame to waste this talent and opportunity on hubris...

I truly don’t think the issue is as bad as it seems. There’s a quick fix sitting right there, like most here have already said, move McCoy to RG and put Cantwell or Hawkins at RT. Miami instantly gets bigger and more physical on the right side, basically recreating last season’s Bell McCoy combination on the left side.

I also think Max can develop into a solid player. We saw Brockermeyer struggle at times last season a lot like Ryan Rodriguez is now, but by the playoffs he was rock solid and played his best game against Ohio State and eventual first round pick Kayden McDonald.
 
I like the move for McCoy to LG. He locked that down last year. He has 3 games of tape at RT that can be used for his draft stock. Now it can be stated he took one for the team and moved to G. Put Cantwell at RT and let him take his lumps ala CICi. We know his lumps won’t be complete whiffs like we are seeing now. And Mirabel has long said he wants his best 5. That has to be your best 5 right now. Also, RRod isn’t that bad. He’s actually graded out good. Knowing he has someone experienced to his left will help him as well.

His new team valued him more than Miami did.
