Ny Carr to Portal

Patience is non existent anymore, want it now kids, over payed, under delivering. Playing time is earned, not given. Welcome to the real world boys, since you want to be professionals and get paid.

Kind of weird. I feel like he got a lot of reps at the spring game this past weekend. Seemed to me he was in the rotation.

Here is the rule… if you’re a high 4 star and you’re not the clearly competing for a starting job after your second spring you’re automatically entered into the portal. It works both ways… you ain’t getting paid to sit and some of these dudes in the portal would take that money and might be a better fit.

For as long has sports has existed, most college and all pro football/basketball/baseball players have believed the only thing holding the back from stardom was their coach not playing them enough. And now the college players can do something about that. The mentality has not changed, just the opportunity. Very few waited because they wanted to wait and learn. They just did not have a choice.

Some will be proven correct, and many will not.

Our evals seem to be terrible.
Development is a luxury that only broke teams can afford.
That luxury becomes too expensive when that player goes for 900 yards and teams with money come knocking.

Top p4 teams are semi pro now. They can’t be spending money on dudes that aren’t able to adapt to the discipline, pace of academics, home sickness, meetings/workout schedules.

Some dudes may have had an offer that we feel isn’t worth the raise.
It’s the nature of the beast unfortunately. If Nico is wanting 4 million for horrible stats, how much is Carr worth to team that is in a real hurt for a speedy slot even if he’s produced nothing?
Take Jalen Brown for example. He did nothing at LSU and fsu paid him to transfer.

This is the issue, especially at the skill positions like QB, RB & WR. Gone are the days of guys sitting 2-3 years and waiting. I hate this one. I thought he’d be really good here. He’s still probably going to be really good wherever he ends up.

Honestly, for the sake of the kids, they have to prevent kids from leaving until after two full years at a school.

I understand they can't control NIL but they can control eligibility upon transferring. What the f*** are these people doing?

Not a surprise. Counting Emory, I am looking for maybe 3 more on O and more on D. I have already said, I believe the starters will be CJ, JoJo and a portal guy. Pena would be great. If we get a outside WR, JoJo is the starting slot. If we take 2 WR's I guess it depends on who. This is the new world of college ball. The good is this should be it. I expect it to slow down a lot after this Spring with some guardrails put in place that will also be tested in court. Their is a reason I believe up to 10 could leave.

I know it's the wild west and everyone is shuffling players everywhere but at some point you gotta sign elite kids and develop them. I don't like this at all.

IMO this is different than Patterson. Similar in that their true freshmen seasons are not indicative of how their careers will go. Most kids are the same. But with Patterson, he didn't play much over a who's who of complete ******* clowns in the secondary, and when he did play, he looked like he was on another planet.

Carr didn't get much playing time behind several kids who are likely going to be NFL players, or at least very good college players, and when he did play, he looked competent.
How were we supposed to stop him from portalling out?

It’s amazing that every time someone leaves, “he got passed up…”

This guy can play and Toney didn’t pass him up.

How bout putting players where they’ll excel…he’s an outside burner that can absolutely catch the ball.

He’s not a slot guy…
