Now That's Miami Defense

Like mentioned above, no way we are winning TOP if our Offense doesn't get on the field because we just scored again on defense. I wasn't worried about ToP. I'm disappointed that Toledo's QB ran so much on us, and 2 weeks later against UNC, we are seeing another QB do it again.
Our defense bites on the fake handoffs too much. They are so aggressive when the QB fakes the handoff everyone goes for the RB and the QB can run freely. They need to start using a LB or safety as a QB spy when we face teams with mobile QBs

If the offense got 3 more possessions off those TO's their stats probably look better but then we would be *****ing even more about the big runs. Can't win with some people on this board.

People can downplay the opponent all they want, but remember when we used to play down to opponents? People debate Richt's ceiling, but there's no doubt that the floor has been RAISED.

I agree with Vilma when he said this defense reminds him of the UM teams he grew up watching.

We on the way. This was a 1-2 UNC. I’d like to see how the team plays an angry bee-like team in a few of the remaining schedule. BC is one, VT is always up for us, and Duke.
They were 1-7 or 1-8 last year when we struggled against them. Progress is being made.

I went to the UNC game last year. After the game ended I was disappointed and disgusted that a one win team was one possession away from winning the game. I knew that Miami was bound to lose a game. After last night I have more confidece in beating these bottom feeding teams on a consistent basis.

I don't think the defense was well prepared for the qb run as this was Chaz Surrats first game of the season. I think we were prepared for Elliot and inserting Surrat threw us off. Also, I think we just have to accept that with the style of defense Manny calls, we will get gashed from time to time. We dont play disciplined football upfront and we call alot of stunts. The upside is tackles for loss, and the downside is occasionally giving up big runs.

Giving up 215yds on the ground at over 5ypc isn't what I think about when I say "Miami Defense".

To each his own I guess.
This

When u become an elite defense is when the opposing team stops trying to run on u. Ill be happy and call our d elite when they give up 60-75 on the grpund for the year.....and be in the top ten against the run.

thissssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

this unc team would have gotten -30 yards total vs 00-03 team

In a short week you can’t plan for everything. They stopped Fedoras entire offensive style. He went with his 2nd string qb and started doing some quadruple option bs. It caught our defense off guard with the misdirection and we can improve but the defense still dominated.

UNC wasn’t even prepared to have to play that way all game which Is why they ended up with only 10 points and 6 TOs.

Edit: we also gotta remember all the **** holds with no call... half of those runs somebody was getting held smh

The post was not talking about the defensive performance for the full game. I am simply pointing out that particular series.
