One could make a legitimate argument that Miami is no better than the 5th best football program in the ACC ...

Based on staff salaries and resumes:

We're definitely behind FSU, Clemson, and Louisville.

The question is ... Do you take the Miami staff over Duke, GT, UNC (with Chizik at DC), Pitt (with Narduzzi), or VT?

That makes us 5-10, in our own conference ... And the way UVA has owned Golden, you might have to include them, too ...

It will be interesting to see how the next coaching search is handled.

I've shifted on this topic ... I think we really will have to "pay to play" with the big boys.

You gotta be ***** kidding me. We have the WORST coaching staph in the ACC. If we had Wakes or BC coaches we win the coastal
 
our next coach/assistants should get a increase on the current staff . But for now they're overpaid for 6-7
 
I suspect that the OP's point is that Miami has historically been EXTREMELY cheap about coaching salaries, facilities, promotional spending, etc. We can no longer afford that going forward.
 
coordinators are now making almost as much as we are willing to pay a Head Coach. This means we will never be able to afford an elite coach...we will have to roll the dice on an up and comer from now on until we get some boosters with oil money.

This. Wait until Narduzzi's contract at Pitt is revealed. They haven't released any details on it even though they're a public institution but I'm certain it's going make our spending (or lack thereof) look comical. And I'm talking freakin' Pitt here.
 
Whats interesting is that UM actually spends a fair amount on its football program. They spend ~$18 million a year. That's top 8 - 10% of NCAA schools. They just don't seem to get the same bang for their buck that other universities do. As Medley always says, "UM is a Mom & Pop Operation."
 
If we paid Butch what Golden is making - and then authorize Butch the ability to pay his two coordinators a million each - Saban and certainly Urban would have to retire.

None of the fans support the team. Big money programs have 100k at games against division 2 and we cant get 40k when we was undefeated for 6 games 2 years ago. We have the worst fan base in america and to top it off the clowns who dont support the program are tweeting and flying banners, why the **** would anyone want to go play here
 
Well Dave Aranda at Wisconsin has had a Top 10 defense for the last 2 years he has been at Wisconsin an they are only paying him up to $480K (the base was $300K) and his defense is loaded with midwest 2* kids that took it Auburn in the outback bowl.

Soooooo money is not everything. Remember Grantham's defense was loaded with Charlie Strong coached up players, when Grantham was at UGA his defenses where poopoo for the most part.

Lets see what happens this after NSD with UM's coaching situation.
