Now for something positive- Corn Elder

For ****'s sake. This a Corn Elder thread. Let's talk about Corn Elder, please.

Best feet for a UM CB since P-Buch. He's exactly the type of athlete the NFL loves to have on one side of the field now. I'm terrified both he and Burns leave at the same time (early).

his feet reminds me of brent grimes. great feet...he doesnmt get crossed up much.

They need to start upgrading that cb spot...because both of those kids are nfl ready imo..

Elder has some size limitations...but skill wise he is there....he actually plays run suppot well to....and obviously has return skills.

* i feel like they didnt hit on the cb spot like needed. So this class they need to bring in some guys that can play right away.

Huge, huge miss to not pick up at least another corner in last year's class. Especially, a player with the skill set of a traditional field corner.

It'd be sad for people to look back at this defense and say something like:

"We had Elder, Bush, Burns, Grace in the back 7 and didn't take more chances with our front?"

It's already sad. Those guys have been on the team for awhile and haven't come close to causing the havoc they should have.

Elder is a baller, if he keeps playing like this he might be gone after this year(but I doubt he leaves)....then our secondary will be in trouble.

The defense as a whole has a TON of talent. I dont think people realize it but will when looking back. The fact that even with all that talent we havent really dictated the action and get passive/go in shell when ever a team starts to move the ball shows the personality of coaches. Ugh. Big lead and you know the team has to move the ball, everyone should be looking to EAT! Sacks, INT, etc.

Maybe they develop it thru season with more confidence, lol, but even when Corn got the pick showed me they arent there yet. Any of our top teams used to RELISH those plays and basically turn it into a fastbreak... That LETS EAT mentality, quick turnover of defensive players turning to offense. Corn has that mentality but everyone got to be on that page.

Type of guy becoming more and more important...utility guy in the slot. Love his game so far this season, if we had a truly inspired defensive staff we would move him around like FSU does with Ramsey.

we blitzed him a lot in the NEB game, i wanna see more of that too

Second best corner at best on the team, regardless of what an article suggests. I know Howard gets a lot of crap, but Elder's body of work is too small to say he's locked in behind Burns.

Lol our coaches paying a top team agressive for four quarters is laughable

To say that our CB recruitment for the past 2 years has been a "huge, huge miss" is practically an understatement. I've been banging that drum for 2 years now. In 2 years Golden has managed to pull Mayes, Redwine and Jackson-Kerr. No disrespect to any of those players but that is embarrassing. It's flat out incompetent!

Forget the article. I go by what my eyes tell me and they tell me he is the best CB on this team.

You're never going to see a "Let's eat!" mentality on this defense as long as Golden is the head coach. That mentality goes against everything that he is. There's no room in his binder for domination.

At some point your brain has to come into play as he's typically on the third best receiver. Put Burns on the guys he's covering and he'll look like a pro-bowler.
