Does anyone on the board remember how Nelson looked against us? I’m reading all these articles about how he’s the most sure fire player in the draft and he’ll be a top 10 pick. I’m not an oline expert but I just remember thinking how slow their oline was.

He was okay vs Miami but got beat for sure. He was by far the best Notre Dame lineman that game

Nelson got beat a couple times, but typically always won his assignment against us.

McGlinchley (sp?) got his *** beat often. The rest of the their OL did as well, but Nelson was good. He's a stud.

Part of our dominance there was facing a one dimensional offense and they hadn't dealt with a fast defense like ours before.

And they kept running slow developing crap. They basically danced around in the backfield waiting for us to stomp them. It's hard to imagine why they didn't switch to plays that required their OL to hold blocks for shorter amounts of time. Even if they had, our DL just had too much speed, but they could have helped themselves a little with play selection.

He was the only Olineman we couldnt consistently whoop. Guys a beast. I think i saw him pancake norton too.

Hes a stud. He pancaked RJ twice and he didn't get beat more then once vs us. Mcglinchey though is a mess. We messed up everyone on that team besides nelson

Nelson got beat maybe 3 times MAX the entire game. Everyone else on that line, we dominated.
Believe the hype about Nelson, dude is a top 5 player in this draft class. since he's an OG, Im not sure if he'll be drafted until like the 49ers at 9 though.

Nelson was the guard. He stoned everyone he went against.

The All-American tackle next to him had some problems - especially with Garvin.

Nelson played well against us. McGlinchey was a non-factor, but we really destroyed their right side that night.

Nelson is the real deal. Barring injury, he's an All-Pro for the next decade.

Oh he did?.... like I said McIntosh won and loss his fair share against nelson

Coming in, they were called one of the best O-lines (usual Irish hype). Being an old O-lineman, I watched them and him. First off, that was some vintage, come off the ball with a rocket up their ***, D-line play. He had some moments, and may have a career, but I remember thinking for all the hype, he was average that night, in some big situations too. I saw lessor O-lineman look better in some of our losses. Just too much pressure, and as a group the ND OL couldn't deal with it. Hard to say any O-lineman looked good in a *** woopin like that.

The O-Line is made up of 5-6 players, including the TE. That night at Hard Rock ... saw the ND OLine get their lunch taken.
