Notre Dame AD Pete Bevecqua on Pat McAfee show today

I don’t care how many get in but still pushing for 5 AQ spots without any changes to current conference formats/schedules is a joke, and the ACC will continue to be the punchline year after year. **** this league and **** notre dame.

go Josh Pate...

He's talking nonsense, but at the end of the day he's ****ing in the wind.

The Committee don't even watch football. They're definitely not watching this bloke on the Pat McAfee show and thinking "Y'know what, poindexter has a good point, move Notre Dame up to 4".

It's not about not wanting the sport to change.

It's about the reality that 16 teams means more SEC and Big 10 bids which does nothing to help a fringe Miami.

If you believe that won't happen based on last year and this year, then you are simply naive, dumb, or both.
The entire system (for lack of a better word) needs to be smashed/destroyed/killed before anything changes regardless of number of teams entering the playoff. Your presumption that the SEC and B1G will just get 3-4 more teams if it's expanded to 16 is something I agree with, hence my original statement.

If they went to a field of 16, SEC would manipulate the system to have 12 teams included. Seriously, why not just return to deciding by bowls?

If SEC and B1G went to 6 each and you eliminate G5 it wouldn't even be bad. 2 B12 and 2 ACC vs 6 SEC+B1G is not all that unreasonable tbh.

But just more than anything what is even the point of the SEC and B1G champ game this week? It's meaningless for the most part. All 4 of those teams are locked in CFP. 3 of them are likely locked into the Bye. The ONLY thing those 2 games change is if Bama just.os to 3 and gets a bye or drops to 10. That's literally it. It's a waste. The CFP needs to be moved earlier. We don't need Conference champ week anymore In P4. That could absolutely just be a play in game.

Imagine top 4 SEC and B1G teams get auto bid along with top ACC and B12 team. That'd make 10 total.
Then teams 5/6 in SEC+B1G and teams 2/3 in B12+ACC have play in game for final spots.

I'm fine keeping it 12, but y'all know the difference between 12 and 16 is just eliminating the bye week for the top 4 teams... Really not that big of a deal imo. Sucks for the top 4 finishers but A) that's pretty much ALWAYS gonna be SEC+B1G anyways so it doesn't effect us

Keep it at 12, kick G5 out the tournament and call it good. If the G5 team is that good, they'll be so overwhelming they'll be in the top 12 anyways with a win over a good P4 school.

Yea the g5 **** is dumb . No g5 team will ever win the natty waste of a spot

Notre dame had THREE 2-10 teams on their schedule

That alone should disqualify them from speaking about the playoffs, let alone potentially being in it

The last time a program stayed in the top 25 after starting off 0-2 was 1988 Michigan and 1984 auburn; whom both lost to Miami in their season opener as well (correction, Michigan played Miami in their 2nd game***).

Rankings shouldn’t be a thing until the start of November, with this current playoff format, but that would damage the poor widdle reputation of teams and conferences that “have” to be protected. What a crock of ******* **** this is becoming
