Notre Dame AD: ACC did “permanent damage”

I love the pushback ACCN has shown this past week.

As an "old" guy, this is what happens when you have younger people with the ability to speak, much less politically correct conference commissioner BS.

Uh huh.. bunch of greedy douchers.

I read on ESPN that teams that make the playoff have to share some of the money with the rest of the conference. Obviously.

But not ND. Since they're an independent, when they make the playoff they get to keep it all for themselves.

We need to drop this game asap. The ROI is not there anymore, especially as we go to 9 game schedules along with the ACCCG.

Let them load their schedule with UNT, USF and Oregon St.

With Jim Phillips in charge, I don’t the ACC drops ND, but the time has come that we should. Either they in or out. Stop being the hoe that lets the guy come hit it and leave it once a year.

By the way, I doubt Phillips was in the know about the ACC network programming, but kudos to that staff. Brilliant.
South Carolina dropped us so we will already be looking for a game. This is the biggest game we have on the schedule.

I did not know that. I assumed that was the one historical rival that was safe.
USC already took the ND game off their listed 2027 schedule. Once they switched to the BIG it was overkill... They had a more challenging schedule, MUCH more travel and 9 conference games.

I believe they are still talking but USC wanted the games switched to early season. ND would not acomodate that request so USC bounced. Notre Dame should be able to get good early season matchups, the problem is the mid to late season when everyone is right smack dab in conference play. Without the ACC gifting them these games they are screwed. No good SEC or BIG teams will schedule a game with them after conference play starts.

Did they expect the conference to back the team who’s not a member over the team who is? I don’t understand their beef.

Then again these are the same entitled ***** who after decades of running up the score on everyone had the balls to cry about Jimmy Johnson running it up on them. Eat ****, domers. Go make another 30 for 30 about this one.

The audacity of these ND administrators. They refuse to join a conference because of greed and their desire to keep all TV money, but then they expect the conference to advocate for them over a full member institution??? who do these crybabies think they are? Now all the extra money they keep and refuse to share, go hit the portal and buy some players who can block miami, or cover a reclassified HS senior. better yet. invest money in a public relations team to advocate for you. FOH asking for ACC help

Whoever is ND's Head of PR needs to be canned. I can't believe the damage they are inflicting on themselves with each interview. Just more and more delusional and entitled than the next.

I am loving every minute of it 😍

What exactly did the conference do that hurt his feelings? The ACC Network replayed the game repeatedly, but that's not the conference. They even went out of their way to schedule a patsy for UVA to claim one of those bottom two spots as a conference champ.

Be mad at the CFP for putting a 3 loss Bama in.
They can’t handle the truth cause they’ve had a fantasy life all these years.

Legitimately no one needs their media presence. It’s like being a badass because you keep saying you’re a badass. That NBC contract isn’t the same value it once was. Welcome to the land of lots of media and streaming options trying to get in the game.
First post, signed up specifically so I could comment on this.

Not only is this dead on, but if you look at the numbers that Notre Dame's ACC games did outside of the top ten Miami ND game which was hugely watched (10 mil), they were nothing burgers. These were all ABC or ESPN games, with one NBC game included.

1.5 mil for unranked Stanford
1.8 for an NBC televised vs unranked Syracuse (this is one of the lowest watched network games across FBS)
4 mil for their ranked vs ranked game vs Pitt
1.7 for their rivalry matchup with unranked BC

ND total season average came to a little over 3.2 mil per game. Miami was 3.1 per game.

The point here is it is a myth that there is ANY benefit to having ND play as a part time member, especially without the network NBC exposure. They do NOT bring any added ratings to your average ACC slate, and just like any other team are heavily reliant on ranked vs ranked or rivalry games to generate ratings. The ACC can't go to a network and say "hey pay us more we have ND for three games!" while pointing to a 1.7mil vs BC game.

Sorry for the long post, needed to get this out.

Edit for context: Miami FSU got 7 mil, Miami UF 6.5 mil, ND TAMU 6.5 mil.

ok so join a conference or end your bull**** agreement with the ACC and figure out how to make a schedule when no one wants to play you

"We're independent and nobody can do a thing about it crusade" is on its last legs

Once the ACC implodes in the next 6-18 months, Notre Dame is officially on the clock.

Almost half of ND's 12-game schedule is made up of ACC games — so what happens when those schools leave for the SEC, B1G or Big XII? Who are Marcus Freeman and them gonna play -- a bunch of G5 schools week after week?

Power conference teams are locked in with their league schedules in October and November. They're not going to mix in a game to help out the Irish when the goal is making the CFP. Way more to lose than gain in that scenario.

Notre Dame's powerbrokers and many of its fans have greatly overestimated their value to the rest of the College Football world.

Nobody — not even the Big XII imo — is giving them this one foot in, one foot out deal that Jim Phillips foolishly agreed to.

Notre Dame will join the Big Ten because there won't be any other choice

Notre Dame seriously acting like they are greater than the game of football itself is wild. Those coddled entitled pansies like to thump their chests over all the championships they won during the leather helmet days before desegregation.

They have been gifted their gilded run. They have now stepped into an acid bath. Let’s see what’s beneath all that fake gold plating…
