I mean, is that completely out the realm of possibility with that statement? This program says NOTHING. Ever. And now they put out an official statement that says…nothing? Either do what you always do, and say nothing, or provide some sort of injury description and timeline. Just really weird, that’s all. I’ve been following this program closer than I follow anything else in my life for about 3 decades now and l had to read that twice because it didn’t even compute in my brain the first time. Just really off-brand but as @IndayArtHauz maybe it’s because he’s such a high profile kid, they felt compelled to say something.

Pretty clear this **** was supposed to catch ND off guard and now it’s been leaked and Miami trying to tell ND “he’s fine” so they continue to prep for him.

Then more and more news comes out that it’s not fine and now that “tweak” has turned into “undergoing more evaluations”

I think it's because someone was still leaking to Geo after Miami gave the background quotes to Zenitz, Thamel, and Feldman. AFAIK, the timeline was:

1. Mali gets injured at practice, and apparently 900 people immediately receive texts about it because OpSec is our passion​

2. Geo reports the injury​

3. Miami authorizes someone to give background quotes acknowledging the injury but intimating Mali could/will try to play against ND​

4. Geo reports his source wasn't optimistic about Mali's availability to play against ND​

5. Miami releases a statement that acknowledges the injury, but omits any mention of his availability​

Whoever is leaking to Geo should be excommunicated.
